Toggle music on/off still not available?

So has there been any news on this? I remember they "were looking into it" about two years ago. Back then we received info how the client could not handle such a feature.

I wanted to give you guys a quick update. There has been progress with the music toggle feature, but unfortunately it's difficult to do with the current client so we are working on this to be implemented in 2.0.

Do you mean the Background Music(BGM)? If so there is a option to toggle that off under System Configuration - Sound Settings and BGM is the third slider for in game music. Hope thats what you meant.
Edit: Just realized you might mean a command to turn it on and off?

Battle & fate music toggle needs to happen, if they added those I would umute FF music again

Yeah, I mean a toggle function to turn it off/on with a simple command/keybind. I remember they said something about it other than the quote I made. Just can't find it. It was something about the different platforms (again..).

I don't understand how people can have such a problem with such great background music. Even though it plays a lot, it's some of the best music in all MMOs. That said, if a toggle is wanted and is feasible, and if they said they were looking into it, some sort of updates occasionally would be nice.

I spend a lot of time in Limsa or Uldah (crafting). It just gets boring since it never stops. They could have make the music stop after X loops, so that when it starts again, it's refreshing.

Did you play FFXI? Thàt game has amazing music (Ru'Lude Gardens, Jeuno, Hallo of Gods and 25 other tracks..) I was very disappointed when I heard the big city themes for FFXIV ARR. I still favor FFXIV's music over that of other MMO's I played though. It's why I could never get into WoW for example. The music was so bad imho.
