Actually I think it's even easier than that. The overall boss strategy is good, melee ARE usefull and as Lancer I'm having a lot of fun fighting the Ogre, I'm always busy avoiding/interrupting the AoE, buffing party's TP with comrade in arms, healing myself so the mages don't waste MP, taking care of BRs coz i always put Moonrise at the end of ruin and I always open the WS BR since i have plenty of TP and i can have 2 WS buffed. I think doing that fight as a Lancer I am usefull and honestly I don't think I will enjoy the battle so much when I'll do it as Archer.

But still melees get a hell of damage while archers don't, so for the party the choice is quite clear ^^'
I think that putting a bunch of unkillable mobs doing AoE damage all around the boss is a terrible idea, if there weren't the ghosts the fight would have been still hard and engaging, but also fair to all the classes.
