    Design a fight contest!

So I can't give any rewards because I wouldn't know how, lol, but...if you win you feel good about yourself :3

    So here are the rules!
Step 1: Title. The title must include the enemy being fought and the name of the location. For example: Titan: The Navel.

Step 2: Describe and name enemy of the abilities. Example: Landslide--deals heavy damage and pushes a character back 15 yalms.

Step 3: Provide a strategy for the fight!

Step 4 (Optional): Provide a loot table

You ARE allowed, and in fact, encouraged to post "joke" fights, where the fights are ridiculously hard and impossible; since this is just for entertainment, anything goes. After designing your fight, make sure to cast votes for three other fights people post when you get the chance. Fight with most votes wins!

Feel free to submit concept art or anything like that too :3

Ultimately, this is for you to have fun. The fight can be for any level, for any reason. Another optional step would be fitting fight into the lore. Go all out and have fun

Contest ends when 15-25 submissions are made. If it is successful, I'll host other competitions.

Diamond Weapon: March of the Machine

*the entire fight is a DPS check*

"enrage" mechanic active the entire fight.

The fight against Diamond Weapon takes place on an airship. Diamond Weapon is moving the entire time (slowly marching). The party is on the airship fighting him the entire time. The airship, in terms of player control, can be moved forward, up in altitude, and down in altitude. Diamond weapon can interact with the airship in the following ways:

-Kill engines: Disables the airships engine entirely. When the airship is stopped, players have to "repair" it to get it operational. When the airships engines are disabled, and Diamond Weapon moves out of range, all attacks fail thus dealing 0 damage.

-Headwind: Diamond Weapon creates a blast of air in front of the airship severely lowering movement speed of the airship. players can deplete an energy source called "thrust" (or something like that) to counter-act the headwind movement speed penalty.

-Infinite Gyre: A vortex causes the airship to be pulled down or up.

Diamond Weapon attacks (besides the above):

Tidal Stomp: Stomps the ocean floor creating a massive tidal wave. Knockback effect on strike. Damages party and airship. If you fall off the airship, you die.

The fight: How does it all work.

The whole theme of the fight is centered around 2 basic mechanics:

Diamond Weapon is moving towards a specific destination in Eorzea with the purpose of destroying that place (a la FFVII). You need to kill it before he unleashes his ultimate. You can just burn if you want to, but you’ll need an excellent airship pilot because...
The party actually pilots the airship.
Diamond weapon has 3 attackable entities:
Legs: Attacking the legs prevents him from marching on Eorzea.
Body: Depletes power aetherial power source of his attacks.
    Head: His actual HP bar.
The party will need to pilot the airship during the fight to keep pace with him as he marches on Eorzea. By attacking his legs, you can by yourself time to “heal” the airship, or yourselves. By attacking the body and depleting his ability resource (thus having to deal with less attacks), you can keep the airship healthy and maintain your course so that you can ultimately attack the head to kill it.
Piloting the airship will not be straightforward. The abilities that Diamond Weapon employs attack the party and the airship.
For example: if you are attacking the legs to long to slow it down so that you can wail on it some more, he uses tidal stomp which creates a tidal wave damaging you, the airship, and knocking players off the deck.
Another example: While attacking the head, the legs are free to regenerate power. Allowing him to leap forward.
To complicate this, if you haven’t been paying attention to the body and thus depleting his resources, it will start casting more abilities that disable or hinder the ability to fly the airship. If you can’t keep pace with him, you lose DPS trying to “catch up” to him”.
these are just some basic ideas that I will flesh out at some point.

    The Pilot:

parties will have 2 ways of piloting the airship (keep in mind im still thinking of how to work this out specifically).

    rotating
    one pilot

    The airship has 5 abilities:

    Forward movement
    Gain altitude
    Decrease altitude
    Overdrive
    Limit Break

I dont think I need to explain the first 3.

Overdrive is used as a last ditch effort to catch up to the Weapon if he kills your engines and gets too far ahead. Depletes all thrust, meaning that your healers will have to heal its resource generators (needs to be fleshed out more).

Limit break is just that: when the PILOT uses limit break (regardless of being a tank, healer, or DPS), various panels on the airship deck will begin to glow. depending on how many players get onto the panels, will determine how strong the airship cannon limit break will be. If executed with all party members alive, its game over and you win. However, Diamond Weapon can interrupt the LB by killing the engines. To effectively kill Diamond Weapon, you will need to disable the legs, and body, and fire the cannon at his head.

In addition, the fight has no “rotation”. You will need to think on the fly and it will be different each time.

Suggestions: I have some ideas on how the enemy is tanked, and how the airship factors into the enmity equation, but id like to hear thoughts first before i dive into that.

I think Lord's idea is brilliant, probably for some very difficult 24 man content in which there are three airships though, and parties can transfer members or whatever. Tanking I think would require a main tank for each segment, off tanks for any potential adds as well.

Oh oh! I have one I posted a long time ago!

Okay all set. This was just for fun - don't take it too serious. I just was trying to think of a end-game style content specifically designed for Free Companies that want to work together - content that cannot be done via Duty Finder for 24 people. Lots of mobs - lots of bosses - it wouldn't be a quick raid you can Duty Finder or pick up 16 randoms and clear. It's very Free Company oriented.

    Hold-on for edit inc.

Free Company Raids: The Three Cities.

    Example:

    Saving the Sultana

The great city-state of Ul’dah has of late been plagued by plots to dethrone the Sultana. Sowing seeds of doubt within the ranks of the Paladins, brutality by the rising financial cabals employing ruthless brawlers, and sinister practitioners of forbidden Voidal arts have come together in a sinister crescendo. Their plan? Simple; Eliminate the Sultana with a hideous coup d'états - they’ve trapped the Sultana, Raubahn, and her Sworn guard in the Fragrant Chambers. Will the streets of Ul’dah now flow red with the blood of innocents? Commanders of the Immortal Flames turn in desperation to the adventurer’ Free Companies; as the body count mounts - it’s up to you to rescue the Sultana.

    Requirements:
Party Size: 8-24 Free Company Members
    Lv50 iL72
    GC Rank Missions Complete.
    Main Scenario Quests Complete.
Purchase a Torn Parchment: Plea of the Sultana (Immortal Flames) from Momodi; 25,000g + 10,000 FC Points

Quest: Access granted via completion of the Quest; “Breaking Oaths”
    The Shifting Sands (Adventurer’s Guild) (X: Y: )
    NPC: Momodi

A Company leader can purchase the “Torn Parchment: The Sultana’s Plea” from the Immortal Flames OFC Desk regardless of current Allegiance; Free Companies will be able to purchase another access to the duty “Saving the Sultana” up to three times per week*. Up to three groups of 8 (Full Party)** may directly enter the instance once the duty “Saving the Sultana” has been executed from the Entry point in Ul’dah. You will start with 120 minutes; and gain an additional 10 minutes for each Boss you defeat (5 Raid Bosses, 3 Optional Job Bosses); totaling 200 minutes if all bosses are defeated. This content is instanced.

*You will receive a key item upon duty completion; if you fail to complete the duty or otherwise leave the duty you will be locked out from that Free Company duty for 7 days from the time the duty was executed. You will still be able to purchase and execute “Aiding the Admiral” and “Seeking the Seedseer” if you fail to complete “Saving the Sultana”.
**Entering with only a single Party is significantly higher difficulty.

Job specific gear comes from the optional Job boss fights; As this content would be designed with a “city” raid for each of the city-states; gear dropped would be dependant on the classes that start within that city. MNK/BLM/PLD being from Ul’dah would mean that it’s optional bosses would be MNK/BLM/PLD - which piece drops would be random and the drop rate would not be 100% for - they will always drop a few Allagan Gold pieces to make them worthwhile. The required raid bosses drop Job accessories for SMN/SCH/MRD.

    Essentially;
    Ul’dah Raid - Saving the Sultana; MNK/BLM/PLD Gear - SMN/SCH/WAR Accessories
Limsa Lominsa Raid - Aiding the Admiral; SMN/SCH/WAR Gear - DRG/BRD/WHM Accessories
Gridania Raid - Seeking the Seedseer; DRG/BRD/WHM Gear - MNK/BLM/PLD Accessories

Map Example (4 images) for “Saving the Sultana”

I like your idea dhex, but what about the mechanics of the fight and the bosses we'd face? Care to show us the abilities for the bosses and their strategies

    "The Casual Experience"

Fight is a basic T9 but you are limited to PuG tendencies. (Selene only on sic, ifrit no DoT summoners, no MP management allowed, no teamspeak, tanks that lead off the fight with provoke, bards that don't sing, No use of any off cooldown dps skills etc etc)

Edit: No user macros allowed, you are not allowed to look at your party list, summoners are not allowed to raise, the list goes on.

"Listen but closely Brothers, for my life's breath is all but spent. There shall come a time far from now when our Chapter itself is dying, even as I am now dying, and our foes shall gather to destroy us. Then my children, I shall listen for your call in whatever realm of death holds me, and come I shall, no matter what the laws of life and death forbid. At the end I will be there. For the final battle. For the Wolftime."
