    Yep. Yep.

In style at least - being a raid within the main cities is enough to contribute that feeling. I don't think it'd be a grind like Dynamis but the structure is similar to promote Free Companies (working together to fill a raid, or recruiting and organizing weekend raids).
It also would have the benefit of adding some strife to the "landscape" of Eorzea - you could structure it similar to the chain-FATEs and say it's similar to Campaign, Besiege, or Reclamation or any of those similar systems.

I think people panic and lash out when they think of FFXI - but I don't get why when you look at the content structure of Campaign, Nyzul, Besieged, Dynamis, Sky, Halvung, Salvage, and Limbus they were all cool content designs - the game was just built with a lot of inherent grind due to having little/no verticle progression,a lot of item-depth, and a huge array of stat configurations coupled with a slow EXP climb and menu-based combat. Slow pace - which we already know FFXIV isn't that slow.

A little different - you're not in a dream world you're able to build up and run multiples. There's GC story involved & it can even be implemented as a dynamic(lolFATE? Besieged Campaign hurp..) event. The combat and mechanics would obviously be different - just the idea of a city raid and Job/Class related rewards based on where you were raiding.

I mean honestly - Coil is just like Limbus right? You get items to upgrade gear you get outside of it, you get gear from bosses, and you get a small amount of currency you can use to buy gear. Each instance has some trash and a boss that drops shinies in a floor by floor climb... oh just like Nyzul...

    Reinventing the wheel or whatever.

I think elements like having a boss fight that consists of wave after wave of mobs is fun - similar to farming trash and time farming in Dynamis - similar to Turn 4 and Turn 3 (lol) and Job fights would be fun because they indirectly could teach players to recognize their fellow party members abilities.

As far as any fight goes in this game at the moment; If you're a tank - it likely requires you be able to count to 2 or 3 and then use Provoke. Wahoo! EX: Garuda EX, Titan EX, Ifrit EX, Moogle EX, Ramuh EX, T6, T2...

    <_<;

I think they really ought to bring back Faction leves and Hamlet and Skirmish from XIV 1.0 while they're at it.

I like your idea dhex, but what about the mechanics of the fight and the bosses we'd face? Care to show us the abilities for the bosses and their strategies

Ideally the section bosses would include a single mechanic for the alliance to learn - these bosses would introduce the mechanic and require the group successfully execute it to move on. All these mechanics (3 Section Bosses) will be present in the final boss - personally I would like mechanics such as the following:

    a) Enmity resets - testing your tanks snap threat and ability to control the boss.
    b) Adds - preferably something similar to the Dragonkin in the Hydra fight - if DPS is too slow or negligent the boss will be buffed up.
    c) Steady healer checks - high consistent damage requiring timing and teamwork.

    Job-Bosses:

Each of the "additional" Job-Bosses should be that Job on steroids. For example a PLD-Job-Specific-Boss would utilize Oaths - Sword Oath making him vulnerable to DPS, but hard to survive - do too much DPS too quickly and it triggers a Shield Oath swap making him easier to tank and heal but cutting DPS significantly - doing so purposefully if the Tank/Healers are having trouble or low on MP allowing players to control the fight - eventually shifting back to Sword if Healers/Tanks are at high MP/HP percentages or after a short period of time. Hallowed Ground being constant from 50% and lower making him alternatively immune to Physical/Ranged DPS and Magic DPS - even reflecting immune damage back at negligent DPS. Being able to self-heal if not interrupted by Stuns or stopped by DPS breaking the cast as the fight goes on. Mechanics that would make sense and be challenging - but not one-shot or completely foreign to the player.

Another idea: A boss fight that puts you into a 16-bit old-school FF fight with menus and turn based combat - playing exactly like classic FF games (EX: FFV). I think this would be really fun - been wishing for something like this since the SQEX FFXIV 16-bit Titan fight video.

PS: If you can't tell - I am not overly enthralled or impressed with FFXIV's current content nor it's approach to encounter design.

    "The Casual Experience"

Fight is a basic T9 but you are limited to PuG tendencies. (Selene only on sic, ifrit no DoT summoners, no MP management allowed, no teamspeak, tanks that lead off the fight with provoke, bards that don't sing, No use of any off cooldown dps skills etc etc)

Edit: No user macros allowed, you are not allowed to look at your party list, summoners are not allowed to raise, the list goes on.

"Listen but closely Brothers, for my life's breath is all but spent. There shall come a time far from now when our Chapter itself is dying, even as I am now dying, and our foes shall gather to destroy us. Then my children, I shall listen for your call in whatever realm of death holds me, and come I shall, no matter what the laws of life and death forbid. At the end I will be there. For the final battle. For the Wolftime."

It sounds like you're speaking from experience, so I have to ask... how do these people get to T9? D:

    Type-0 Gilgamesh (True form)

It will be a very hard Solo Gilgamesh fight.

If the player win they will be rewarded with a Type-0 themed Weapon which will be one of the Strongest Weapons in the game.

If players lose they will lose their Relic Weapon or their current best weapon if they don't have a Relic Weapon.

Best chance is that most players will lose if they are not the skill level of world 1st Hardcore players.

    I just want this:

    With tophat/monocle/mustache reward

I also wouldn't say no to a trial where you fight all 6 primals at once, or consecutively where one pops every 2 minutes until all are dealt with.

I was reading Jay Common's post of his fight and was all hyped up, all serious. Scroll down a bit and immediately burst into laughter. Well played
