Pup was my main in ffxi and i would love to see it added to ffxiv.
Although it was very annoying watching Gadget cast poisona on me when i had 10 hp left before they did the ai update to the automaton it was still enjoyable![]()
The pet controls in this game are worse than any other game I've played, so I can't really get excited about more pet classes.
They couldn't even make Summoner a proper pet class, you think they even have a hope of hell in managing PUP?
#butactuallythis
The way they've responded to requests to make SMN more pet reliant and complex gives me very little faith for a heavily reliant pet job like PUP would be. Unless you'd ok with 75% damage of a MNK and the other 25% being the niche puppet damage with 4 skills, I doubt they'll implement it any better.
That being said...Ninja's mudras seem fun and (on the outside anyway) the most complex additions to a job class, maybe there is some hope...eventually.
at least there is hope for it. they received a lot of negative response about SMN... at least they try to improve SMN now..
so well the course is not lost. at least there is a chance that PUPP could be a much better pet class than SMN.
I like the idea of giving the players pet commands, like a regular skill. Which for example the Summoner in AION had, that worked perfect.
for me the same, exactlyI would love to see pup implemented. Doesn't really have to be like FFXI just the general concept would be awesome.
And RDM was a poor crossover between Gladiator and BLM... wow... fire I-IV spells... so "Special"..... and not "lame" ... XD

You're not recognizing the difference between "let's 4 man leviathan with SCHs and SMNs for shits and giggles" and "Running Ramuh EX. No tanks. Let's ignore the current content's mechanics because not having a tank and using a pet that the boss cannot kill makes the fight a lot easier".
Novelty comps are okay. The novelty goes away when those become the norm and people get excluded as a result. Big difference.
My sig. Read it. blah blah blah. >.>
* The sad thing is that FFXIV turned RDM into a turret, and people think that's what it's supposed to be. It's supposed to combine sword and magic into something more, not spend the bulk of gameplay spamming spells and jump into melee for only 3 GCDs before scurrying back to the back line like good little casters.
* Design ideas:
Red Mage - COMPLETE (https://tinyurl.com/y6tsbnjh), Chemist - Second Pass (https://tinyurl.com/ssuog88), Thief - First Pass (https://tinyurl.com/vdjpkoa), Rune Fencer - First Pass (https://tinyurl.com/y3fomdp2)
So if SCH/SMN comps become the norm and people get excluded they should be balanced out? Where do you draw the line? You're not recognizing the difference between "let's 4 man leviathan with SCHs and SMNs for shits and giggles" and "Running Ramuh EX. No tanks. There's no real difference between the statement
"let's 4 man leviathan with SCHs and SMNs"
and
"Running Levi Ex. SCH/SMN only. No Tanks"
We ignore content mechanics all the time. We pushed DPS through Demon Wall to avoid the bugs, We timed out and healed through Turn 2 to avoid having to pass rot, we LoS in Turn 7.

People weren't kicking non-MNK/DRG DPS from AK runs to bypass demon wall adds through LB, and by the time you could push DPS you were outgearing the instance.
Turn 2's thing became common after that was considered old content and players outgeared the content itself, which is pretty much the only reason it was not patched the way Ramuh EX was. Would have been a different story if that had become common within a week after launch.

Maybe puppets that follow you around?
