Mossy Horn Question

I looked at 2.3 master recipes, and I see that some of the new crafting items require Mossy Horns...

now, I know you can get them throw a chest in Aurum Vale ( and levequest too? I don't remember xD)

but I presume this way you'll only get NQ Mossy Horns..
is there a chance to find HQ mossy horns, or are they NQ only? @_@

Apparently there are HQ horns, though I would suspect they may be random from the chest in AV. I don't think that leve's give HQ mats. I do have one in my inventory thats from a leve NQ of course. Could look at the MB and see if anyone has one for sale or if sales history indicates one was sold.

yeah, leves don't give HQ items :/
I'm gonna look at MB tonight when I get off work, and I'll mentally prepare to run that nightmare in the future xD

I have received a HQ horn from a retainer quick exploration. So they are possible.
BUT
Because you are using 10 Blue Demi Materia 1 the difference to starting HQ percentage between HQ and NQ is not that great

I recall back in 1.0 that we used to farm those mossy horns from this Elder Mosshorn NM, located in western Thanalan.

Now in ARR, we got dumbed version of it in form of FATE, located @ eastern thanalan about a bit south east from camp. Wonder if we could get mossy horn from there too... :?

The recipes are 1 start, in the demimateria master book. If you have bothered getting the master books, you should be able to handle 1 star recipes easily.

I don't think it's really worth the risk xD
I mean, i'm starting to meld materias, and I still don't have all the crossclass skills (BB mostly), but I can still work around crafting AF crafting gear HQ, if i have all materials HQ...

losing some material is not the same as losing 10 fieldcraft demimaterias :/
