After all Yoshi-P did say he wants to get the Gun class, Stealth type class, and Melee Mage Class into FF14 back during a interview in 2.0.

We currently only obtaing the Stealth type class/job being Rogue/Ninja for now until 1st expansion is released with the other new classes/jobs

May be we will get Red Mage in 1st expansion with the other new classes/jobs since Red Mage was mentioned as a possible Job for the Melee Mage Class that may require White Mage and Black Mage to unlock.

(I say may require Black Mage and White Mage because when Yoshi-P mentioned Red Mage, he used it as a example for Advance class/Job that may require certain Jobs to reach a certain point before the player can obtain these Advance Class/Job)

well it's not that impossible, on the cover of the futur artbook we can see a hyur female hold a rapier, since no weapon in the game looke like this it can means something or not. but strange choice to put a girl holding a rapier on an artbook of a game without one into it.

Sahagin also use a short-spear with a shield. Doesn't mean we're going to get it :V (There's also a beast tribe NPC in Limsa Lominsa talking to the foreign intake NPCs and/or standing in line for them from FFXI.)

References =/= We'll get stuff from FF11 (Or any other FF) as part of the main game systems. The rapier also looks like it has a gun roulette / barrel near the hilt.

well outside it's not really a reference, it's the cover of an artbook of FF14 showing different jobs weapon, exept the white mage one, all the other jobs are present (even the ninja one).

the question remain, why put a weapon non existant in the game on a cover of an artbook. indeed it can be sketch for something, but it will have no ended on the cover but inside. here it's the front of the book, the first thing people will see, it's a weird choice, no?

don't get me wrong i don't say that redmage is coming next, simply that this cover is too much weird for not point this details.

ps: at the base some element of FF11 was reused directly into the game, the good exemple at the goblin:

even the race are inspired by FF11... references are already present. but here it's not something like this.
