    Option 1

Hardcore: Play 20+ hours a week
Casual: Play less than 10 hours a week
Moderate: Between 11 and 19 hours a week

Time spend doesn't equate to Hardcore casual or moderate.

    Option 2
Raider because I do do raids but it's the last thing on my list of things I want to do but I do still up for them time to time.

    Commendations.
If I play dps I only give it out to other dps.
If I play tank I only give it out to healers.
If I play healer I only give it out to tank.

Only if they should be getting a commendation.
There are always exceptions to the rules!

^This. It kinda irks me when people generalize hardcores and raiders the same. I believe being hardcore measures to the amount of content one can finish(or can keep doing/repeating) over a certain amount of time. One example: the people that just got their Nexus.

Im a raider myself but not a hard core player. I dont think I have even cleared 50% of the game's content yet.

Beating hard content also does not equate hardcore/casual/midcore.

I would say it mindset of the player. It is Time + What you want to do

If you play 5hrs a week and beat all content. You are not hardcore because you are playing the game 5hrs a week.

If you play the game 80hrs a week and do not beat coil. You are playing the game very hardcore you are just not good.

If you play the game 80hrs a week and do not care about the BIS gear you are playing alot but are not hardcore.

who is more hardcore someone playing less then 1hr a day or someone playing the game as a full time job almost.

Hardcore is a mindset, where the game is more then just a game.

I'm definitely hardcore/raider. I have desynthesis maxed out in 2 crafting classes with my 3rd (Alchemist) being 95. I'm a bit of a glamour whore as well. Whenever a new glamour comes out I have to be the first to get it and I almost consider myself to be more obsessed with glamours and crafting than I am with raiding once the content is on farm.

I bought my medium house in Lavender Beds yesterday so I've been having fun spending my last million on furnishing the place and making it look nice.

I play enough to the point where most of the server knows who I am in some way or another.

My playtime bounces between casual and hardcore by the guidelines -- just depends on my and my partner's work schedule and what else is going on. I try to make time, but FFXIV can't be a very high priority. Usually it's probably within the 'moderate' range.

Sometimes I raid, but lately I don't (much). Has more to do with the people I was raiding with than anything. I find it fun, but I also find a lot of other things fun about the game and very rarely find myself out of things to do.

    By your definition I'm a hardcore non-raider.

But personally I view casual and hardcore differently. To me, a casual player is someone who cares about the journey, while a hardcore player cares about the endgame. So to my own definitions, I'm therefore a casual player.

    Casual... raider? I guess.

I don't generally do Coil of Bahamut, since it requires a lot of time and manpower to accomplish and I'm rarely online when others are available. I do however run Syrcus Tower, and since that's classified as a raid well... do the math. I have done coil runs in the past (though I've yet to beat T5), so it's not as though I've never touched them, but I've yet to progress to the stage where I do them regularly.

At the moment, as I still consider myself rather new at this, I'm a casual non-raider, although I have very intention of going on raids at some point, if I can find the right people to do it with. Even after almost 2 months, I'm really still learning the game.
