I'm thinking most of the delay involves the Gold Saucer stuff. But I seriously doubt that Fanfest will be 2.4-centric. I'm willing to put money on Fanfest not only detailing 2.5, but also giving us a CGI trailer for 3.0 and talking about changes from 2.0 to 3.0 that may be involved.
I am personally hoping for the current job change system to be abolished as it has put the devs into a corner when developing other classes/jobs that use the same weapons as pre-existing classes/jobs. There is no way the game will be able to handle the amount of jobs Final Fantasy has with the way things are now.
...and as a player who clocks in an average of four hours a day on this game since Beta 3 of 2.0, I still find myself with a lot of things to do. Do I want fresh content? Sure, but I can keep myself busy with tribals, hunts, Zodiac Weapons, crafting/gathering, chocobo training, etc.

yoshida have let heard that fanfest will mostly have information about the expansion, then either we will have get the 2.4 before the fanfest or he is a tease ^^
I have a very strong feeling 2.4 will be out before Fanfest. Maybe by a week or so, but definitely before Fanfest.
i have the same feeling actually, even if the live letter was not filled with a lot of information, we did know most part of what to wait from it. indeed we had no info regarding BC3, but generally the website they put before the patch contain far more info than the live letter ^^
That, and we also have a title! Dreams of Ice. Usually they don't wait long after a title drop to launch the new patch.i have the same feeling actually, even if the live letter was not filled with a lot of information, we did know most part of what to wait from it. indeed we had no info regarding BC3, but generally the website they put before the patch contain far more info than the live letter ^^
Why would it be 2.4 talk? Fan Fest will be all about the expansion content, along with Gold Saucer, Marriage system, etc. They are pushing Marriage to 2.45, so it will coincide with November's Live Letter. December will likely talk about 2.48 and have further info about the expansion during the JP Fan Fest.
2.4 will drop in October, just before (or after) NA Fan Fest. I wouldn't worry about the patch being pushed to November, it seems that they have a pretty solid schedule of month 1 (Major Patch), month 2 (.05 Minor Patch), month 3 (.08 QoL Patch), repeat now. Using that logic, it will very likely go like this:
October = Patch 2.4, NA Fan Fest, EU Fan Fest
November = Patch 2.45, Live Letter XIX
December = Patch 2.48, JP Fan Fest
January = Patch 2.5, Live Letter XX

I cannot wait for 2.4
Shiva, Rogue/Ninja, New dungeons, man, you just can't beat it.
I said it once and i'll saw it again.......Best mmorpg EVER !!
Actually it won't work like this because they [usually] have scripted Q&A sessions, and very rarely take questions about a recently implemented patch. They will however, rip him a new one about personal housing if Yoshi gives the players a chance to talk past patch content.
It would make sense for the team to put out 2.4 before Fan Fest so players who can't be there can at least enjoy some content while they get new expansion content information poured on them. If they don't do this another likely scenario is Fan Fest attendees will be able to play 2.4 content at the venue before everyone else, and then they'll release patch 2.4 a few days to a week after Fan Fest. Win-win situation whichever they choose.
