Trading items to myself : Mission Impossible

So it's 2014, it's been three years since FFXIV's initial release and more than a year since it's re-release. Yet for some reason after THREE YEARS of begging and pleading SE has decided that being able to trade your own items to your own alternate characters, a feature which literally every other mmo in existence including SE's own previous title has, is still so much of a hassle to implement or a hindrance to RMT or whatever bs excuse is the most recent, that the extreme inconvenience it causes everyone else is justified.

So please, for the 1000th time in the last three years, PLEASE implement some way of trading items to yourself.

    Sincerely,
An honest player tired of being punished for things I take no part in and have no control over.

I feel exactly the same way considering I had to trade items to my other characters because of space limitations from 1.0...it was a tedious task at best that required strategic logins and log outs...but best reason I can come up with as to why this feature hasn't been implemented is those of us who want it aren't hardcore enough neither casual enough...so its low priority...
    I continue to hope.

There is a tedious way to do it, currently.

1- Log in your alt, go to some one-man instance (class quest, whatever), then log off inside said instance.
2- Log in your main char, invite your alt to your friend list.
3- Log in your alt and accept said invite.
    4- Profit.

I know there should be a normal way to do it, without tricks like this. But, I just wanted to note that doing what you request is already possible, in case you didn't know it.

Sadly all my classes are 50 and all my story quests are done, otherwise I would. That being said, it shouldn't be this hard in the first place.

Interesting concept...but we should not have to go through such lengths, considering how modern this game is...

I am on the same boat bemoaning this. I hate bugging other people to help me trade between characters. It's highly irritating. EverQuest II allows you to share bank space between your multiple characters - that is there is a middle spot that you put items/money in that your other characters have access to. No friending oneself needed.

This game is highly against alt characters as it is. My personal house for example isn't even shared between my alts. Would need to buy another house for the alt character, which is pretty stupid. There's not really even a reason to play alt characters other than for bag space or trying out other races/genders, but with those we could instead just buy more retainers or use fantasia.

As an alt'o'holic I feel a bit confused with this game's concept on alt characters. (*cough* Used to have 20 characters in LotRO *cough*).

Yea, fairly disappointed in devs stance on alts. Was a hardcore DAoCer and while they didn't have shared banking (or even a mail system), your house was tied to your account and houses could have anywhere from 400-1600 slots of public storage(with permission settings).

and I'm a chronic altaholic too, had 30 characters in DAoC, with 26 of them being max lvl and geared

I agree; SE loves to "throw the baby out with the bathwater" so to speak, every chance they get.

I ended up making a Free Company for myself and all my alts, and I use the FC safe to exchange items between them.

In older MMOs, such as Ultima Online, there was a house maintenance fee you had to pay weekly, but in FFXIV: ARR we decided against this system. Similarly, these older MMOs also had a system where your house would break down if you didn’t log in after a while in order to have you continue your subscription, but this is a thing of the past and we won't have any system like that.
