Die you die tho?
Do you even need protect for old content, when you're geared out in ilv90-110 gear?
And you can protect after the fight as begun, so I really don't see a problem in this.

If EVERY SINGLE PERSON IN THAT TRIAL DUTY GROUP HAS SAID GEAR, then it would be okay to speedrun said content, because nobody is new. Now... what if someone was new... and wanted to honestly learn the content? Hmm?
People dash off because they can. If a party has even one competent healer and tank, they can pretty much duo the fight, throw in a couple of Novus geared DPS and the fights are an absolute cake walk. People are so grossly overgeared that not getting healed for a while at start isn't a big deal. The beginnings of encounters are not dangerous anyway. The locked CS circle pretty much makes the transition screen the only possible load time when the party can dash off, and that barely lasts a few seconds with a normal connection. We're literally talking about a time period of seconds here.
And since when was wiping to content the only way to learn it? If you can win with less people, you might as well win the fights while you learn.
It's old content, people are gonna rush/farm it. New people are going to have a different experience with the fights than the people who played a year ago. Those are the realities and people need to accept that.
A tank alone isn't going to carry the fight... If most of the party is newer 50s running it for the first time, especially if it's one or both healers, and you run in and Leeroy Jenkins the boss you're probably going to die. The result of that is likely going to be raging at the healers/DPS then rage quitting the Trial leaving the group waiting for a replacement. It doesn't matter how old the content is...some people are experiencing it for the first time and deserve to do so just as much as us vets did when we first did it a year ago. The Primal opening CSs aren't very long so there's no excuse for not waiting for everyone to get out of the CS and then it's only polite to verify who, if any, is new. Running in when the healer(s) aren't ready is not only impolite but suicidal and detrimental to the entire party.
