Retainers will slowly hurt profits of DOL

People without DOL classes normally buy shards. Just had a FC member tell me he just stop buying them because his retainer can farm 150 shards a hour. This may seem like a small amount. He gets just what he needs to craft and sell the items he makes money off. This was a win for him. You don't require a shit load of crystals unless you powering through a class or mass producing a item. Shard farming in a major gil source in ffxiv. For example my FC saved 50mil toward our house. A major portion was shard sells. I worked hard to level DOL so I could farm what I need to craft and sell. Now its on cruise control. Don't get me wrong there will still be plenty for DOL to farm but SE needs to stop trying to simplify everything. It's not like you have to level higher then about 10 to farm shards. I spend hours farming so others don't have to and should get payed. It's already hard to sell low level gear because of vendors, quest rewards and dungeon drops.

my take on this is that the players should not get jacked on the price of shards just because we do not want to use our time farming them ourselves...I love it so much that I have two of my retainers as Miners so that I can have them go get all the shards and crystals that I need without having to pay someone else or as I feel...waste my time on something like this mundane task of mining mats. I like to use my time to play the content and farm Primals and run Coil and the similar things. We cannot however farm the clusters so that is where you can make your money off us if you like.

Good way to look at it. You always have someone willing to do the work for you so you can spend time on content. Content gives you gil. You buy my shards. The wheel get the grease. I would like retainers too if I didn't have to farm or buy something I dread. SE just need to be careful with the economy.

The point was people don't want to buy your shards. Use your miner/botanic to farm something else.

1. your friend is lieing to you. At max level you can get 60 shards every 40 mins per retainer or 30 crystals every 40 mins.
2. Economies change. Adapt or die. I say this as someone who has every DoL/DoH class to 50. And yes I do use my retainers to get shards most of the time since I don't want to have to spend the time getting them.
3. If your having trouble selling low level gear here is a crazy idea stop making low level gear and figure out things that actually do sell.
