5. Gathering. Bot users gather vast amount resources with actually lifting a finger to do so. This gives said players an unfair advantage
Through the use of 3rd party software. How do you combat this you ask? Patching you software to make it incompatible is a fools
earned. For person you have working on that idea Bot users have hundreds.
Solution: Add Captcha to gathering nodes at random. This should be paired off with yield buff at the gathering node for players answering
correctly.

what about the bots that farm mobs, farm quests, gonna captcha those too? the open world bots aren't just doing any single thing they are doing everything that you can think of and more.

patching the game to get rid of some exploits that they are using however would be a good start, captcha would make everyone angry and even with a buff i think that it would not be acceptable by anyone.

captcha to create character, login, to login a second account from same ip, would probably not hurt normal players too much though

But even that would probably not stop most of the botting since its only 1-5 accounts per player that i've seen max and that wouldn't really be that much of a deterrent for player managed bots.

Or not helping RMT, but just ensuring the economy doesn't inflate.

They made these bots to flood the market in a semi-legitimate way (the game is creating the items after all, they're not just fabriacted) so that a) more players could access content and b) a ton of gil is removed from the economy, preventing inflation.

lol, nice idea but don't think so. the most coveted materia (savage aim IV and savage might IV) are still pretty stable in price..at least on my server. don't see any influence through botters there...now, crafting materia though...that market has crashed badly. You have such an high influx at the moment, it is ridiculous. Who in their right mind needs a stack of 99 materia at once? Those botters are not only cheaters, they are stupid too.

As you can see that's 3 in about a months time that is 3704 banned accounts that's

$48,114.96 (more then most of you probably make) in monthly income that could (they might recreate the account) be removed from Square.

I think its obvious that they are trying and just because they do not get the one that you are infatuated with does not mean that they are not trying. I would assume they are going for the bigger players on not some peddling mining bot.

What you should do is let them do there jobs as they see fit. They see numbers they know whats going contrary to your belief.

It's like expecting the cops to drop a crime syndicate case for a small time pot peddler on the corner it's just not going to happen.

They are not "trying" nearly hard enough. I've seen the exact same bots every single day for a month now, the types of bots that are basically holding up a giant sign saying "I'm a bot!". These are the cases that need urgent attention, and the ones that SE seems to be completely ignoring. I don't care how many accounts they've banned in the past. 3704 out of the total number of bots running around on all servers is a complete joke.

Great thread. I have had similar frustrations. I even made a post about it (long ago) here: http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/t...-I-Have-It-%29. Shortly after I added a video of the bots on that forum post, they actually did indeed finally get banned. Get video evidence, post it here. It gets attention, and is good proof.

There are far too many on servers like mine (Excalibur) for reports to matter.

I don't know if they are using the same tactic here.... but I remember long ago in FFXI SE made a statement saying that they were going to use a particular ban style.

One where they basically watched the account to be banned for a long time, gathered info on where all the gil etc was going - then when it had accumulated a great accomplishment of Gil or such - then is when they banned them.

They said something like... causing more devastation to the account this way deters the behavior from happening again or something... again I don't have a clue if they kept using the strategy or if they use it here... but its something to think about.

Yeah but this isnt XI where it takes you months to level up. This game is super casual where only takes 3day-1week. They really dont take a big blow from it like they did before.
