Attention devs: Game Surveillance Unit re: open world Bots.

Had a very weird experience indeed, think I got a join in progress in a dungeon with someone multi boxing 3 characters.

Low level roulette, got a join in progress after waiting around an hour (yeah DPS queue times!) and at first I noticed that everyone was silent and the tank had a really weird name, I won't say it but it was a famous FF characters name with the number of the series as the last name and lots and lots of symbols in it. The healer and dps also had names of famous characters but not strictly from FF w/ symbols.

I figured this was a bit suspicious but thought it could be a very strange coincidence or a bunch of friends playing together and having a laugh while naming characters. But, suspicions confirmed when I saw them move. Dps never moved and the healer and tank followed each other like they were chained at the ankle. The healer on used medica and continually spammed it and the tank (in mage gear and lvl 1 accessories OH YEAY!) on used flash once then auto attacked, didn't try to do anything when the healer or me pulled agro, never moved out aoes, never tried to do anything when the healer died. Dps never moved an inch the whole time I was there, I left after that one pull.

Reporting this now, have a screenshot etc of names. I know this is for 'open world' but still :/

EDIT: Just noticed while looking at some of the screen shots, the tank was wearing the same blue half robe a few of the bots in the screenshots were wearing. Do bots have their own uniform now?

Multiboxing is not boting.
And it's sad but beeing bad a playing is not a bannable offense.

Is there not a way to multi box but also have a bot program control them? Im not a computer expert but I remember hearing different things about multi boxing like it was ok if the person was controlling all 3 but a bannable offence if they weren't. I mean, no person could be THAT bad at playing, then again I've been proven wrong before ._. It just didn't feel like I was playing with a human being.

I multibox myself and there is nothing wrong with that with the TOS (and you can register up to 8 game accounts per SE account). Since i'm not a human octupus, it's clearly not as good as human controlled char and you heavily using follow and have hard time for micro management. So yeah, that could be kinda weird and you can be really bad in a learning phase of a dungeon. I think he was not able able to complete it with is 4man group, so his tank or heal leave for the final boss to have less things to do. I don't think it's nice to do on a duty and i usually ask friends for that if i need so, but i don't think that's something a bot will do.
That's say, it could be a bot user who just level up his bot using something that's look like legit boxing (or level multiple chars with boxing and plan to use them to bot after), their is no magic way to be sure. Best bet is to usually to ask. If he use joke in name, my bet is it's legit. Some hint could help to see the difference, if he reply, if he's doing his epic quest, multiple jobs, tribal reputation, own a house ...

Thread is for all bots really, not just open world ones. I kinda wish I could change the thread title now to try and get the CM's attention since as far as I can tell they are ignoring this completely.

They tend to go for gear that is easy to craft in hope of mass producing materia IV's, so you'll see a lot of them wearing similar gear.
Not to be confused with actual players who wear this gear in hope of producing materia IV's.
