@MageBlack
Np, I agree and if I could help, I really would.![]()

Ya, Balmung is pretty busy and almost always under new character restrictions. I don't have high hopes any more for getting a house, I'm not very hardcore, Most I have ever had at one time was almost 700k. I'm casual in my approach to the game but hardcore in my dedication to play it. My best bet will be like the tortoise and the hare, let the hardcores go nuts when its all expensive while i plug away at it, then when those people have all departed or lost interest, i will have their sloppy seconds.
I do have a few other questions about the personal housing VS FC housing. If it is set up like FC housing is, do all the same rule apply? If i don't enter my residence for 35 days do i forefit the land? That would be another reason not to bother with a personal house. Do you get any kind of bonuses to your character, like the extra exp from the FC? Whats to stop some rich jerk from buying up all the small plots on a ward just to resell them at a higher price?
Either way, I won't be getting a house when the new wards drop, but i'm ok with that, the money does not bother me in the slightest, it is attainable even if it is a long goal for me to attain. I will pray every night in my cardboard box shanty that the twelve will bless me with a plot of land once I have the money.
May the twelve be with you all!

@ Mage Black; Honestly? I wasn't insulting nor mocking housing when I said in my previous post that it's like harvest moon in that regard, the closest 'buff' you get is the 3 star crafter stationary items you can put in there for lvl 40 and under cp boost. Aside from that Housing is just decorating, gardening and chocobo raising/coloring. (Having a melder and shop npcs is nice though.)
There's not much to it and the gardening takes about a week or more for most things. Plus unless you mine, the soil is possibly a bit costy as well. So... as much as I love my own house.. it's not a game breaker or maker in reality unless they add something like chocobo stat raising for gold saucer.
The only real restriction that having no house puts on any player is the block out from getting a rank 20 chocobo seeing as you must feed it the onions for that to work and it must be leveled up to the next rank before every onion feeding. then of course colored chocobos requires stables so that includes needing housing as well..
Also, I don't got a personal house but yes it seems like most of the same features still apply. You can furnish, raise birds and garden. As to the other question.. Nothing is stopping anyone from owning multiple houses, actually I am pretty sure I recall being told someone recently bought about 10 houses to themselves on one server.

Unfortunately, whenever they add new wards, the pricing is reset to the highest.
This really shouldn't be allowed, and it's just one of the things I feel about the entire system that wasn't well thought out. Even with the addition of 16 new wards, if the game were to remain popular there's still no guarantee that many players down the pipelines will ever get to own a house. And most certainly will never get to own the house on the particular plot that they liked. If someone's dream plot is say, the medium house 11 in Lavender Beds and all you can afford now is a small, anyone whom thinks that house will still be around a year from now when you can finally afford it is dreaming. And that shouldn't be the case. The explanation for the price was to reward the effort, but it only rewards those whom are rich right now at this exact moment. No amount of effort will help those behind us unless they're able to keep adding tens of wards every few months. In the meanwhile I know of many people whom are buying several small plots for themselves to have access to multiple gardens, and for the purpose of resale at a higher price to players whom weren't able to be online when the patch went up. If the server structure exists in such a way that the number of houses must be so limited, it just baffles me that they didn't put in any measures to prevent that type of thing. Unless SE just doesn't see an issue with it I guess.Nothing is stopping anyone from owning multiple houses, actually I am pretty sure I recall being told someone recently bought about 10 houses to themselves on one server.

Basically what he's doing is lying to your face because they were too busy doing other crap to implement a proper personal housing system. So in order to meet a deadline that they set themselves they added some land to FC housing and made it possible to buy one for yourself. The exact opposite of what they said they were going to do and played it off like we misunderstood them. He's full of shit and everyone knows it.
In DOFUS when 2.0 was being released, they set a deadline of (I can't remember the date) in December of that year. When the game wasn't ready at the deadline they released a new server, using the new version and kept everyone else on the working version until the new version was completed. Then they paraded it around like they met the deadline and everything was peachy keen. This is what Yoshida and the Dev team are doing. At the same time trying to smooth it over by telling us we lack reading comprehension skills.

I would simply adore honesty except my respect of Yoshi-P has declined to the point I read his statement of "Unfortunately, the resource usage of this system threatened stability of core features of the game and had to be scrapped" as the new "PS3 Limitations" or "We would love to add this but it would be too stressful to the new players"
If such a statement was true any normal dev team would have said "Were sorry but the feature we wanted to add isn't quite ready or up to par. We apologize for the delay and we will inform you more of progress." instead of releasing an incredibly broken, incredibly untested, and incredibly unthought out system as a hold over and hope the player base won't notice. I guess that's par for the coarse he's taking us on though. Can't wait for Gold Saucer.

You know I often see complaints for this being not enough houses to go around and on my (what seems like fairly populated) server we have a surplus of houses unused, even small. SE is obviously aware of the statistics and yet they are evenly spreading the server loads. Not sure if this is a technical issue (their fallback excuse) or what, but does seem to be an oversight. Rather than cave and give out inn room sized houses (player housing is too awesome for this), I agree with the steps they're taking to ease this in. Eventually demand will be met and rather than have ghost town wards, I like that they're not just letting everyone buy a small and be done with it. The ward I'm in has almost all medium housing available and one large left, with many others looking the same.
This needs to be balanced better before opening the floodgates IMO.

This is crazy, because Lamia has 100k+ people on it, according to xivsoul.com. Meanwhile, my server excalibur, has just 62k people on it and I can count the number of available plots on 1 hand, all of them being medium or large.
Maybe your server is really crowded and also really poor.
