    Post your game settings tweaks

I've been fiddling and tweaking my FFXIV settings just about since I got the game, trying to get the perfect balance of performance and detail.

I had it to the point where I liked it with my GTX275 graphics card, but I just upgraded to a GTX580, so I kinda had to start over.

So, everyone who feels their XIV settings are perfectly balanced, how do you have your stuff set up? Tell us what you're using for a graphics card, too. ^_^

Right now, here's what I use with my GTX580:

    Resolution: 1920x1080
    Multisampling: 4xAA
    General Drawing: 10 (highest)
    Background Drawing: 5 (high)
    Shadows: Highest
    Ambient Occlusion: Off
    Depth of Field: Off
    Disable Cutscene Effects: Off
    Hardware Mouse: On
    Texture Quality: High
    Texture Filtering: Highest

This generally will give me between 40-50 fps, dropping to no lower than 30 in crowded areas.

Reading that, I know know this game simply hates on ATI Raedon video cards. That needs to be fixed like fast. I cannot put my General Drawing above 8 without being reduced to less than 10fps, and I have 2 Raedon HD 6970's

Same here, 2 Radeons 5850 on crossfire and still have to play the game on standard, anything above that, seriously hits the FPS. The development team must address this issue fast. It's very frustrating.

I find that strange since the benchmark program seemed to favor ATI.

that is completely wrong, Crossfire X performs ONLY in full screen mode.
my 4870x2 only had 1 core working on windowed, the second one would work on a dx10-11 but mostly doesnt add anything, and this game is dx9.

580 gtx here too running game at 60fps in all zone and area hardly drop below 50. i say it stay at a solid 60 really but once in a while it drop to the 50ish for a sec then go back up. From my experience with messing around with the setting the General Drawing pack quite a perfermance hit once u go pass 8 and make ur video scream. I can always tell cuz i try turning AA on and off with the same setting except for the General Drawing. Fps alway drop 30-60ish whenever General Drawing is at 10 whether u have AA on or not. But i get solid 60fps whenever i put it at 8. I forgot what my fps is at 9 but at 8 my video card doesn't scream and run quiet so i decided on General Drawing 8. Basically u can have everything max on a 580GTX if u lower the General Drawing a bit. In my opinion i dont really see much of a difference between 8 and 10 anyways but that just me. Well i'm running in 580GTX SLi but i try turning one graphic card off and still have the same result. Also i don't think the game is fully stable for SLI or crossfire cuz the SLI bug me out on the movies. Doesn't bug me out in game but on the movies its flicker and studder hardly able ot watch. Also i use to play with a 4870x2. From my experience the game only use one of the 2 card on the 4870x2. If u disable one of the card on it u will have a better performance by disabling the AI catalyst. Sucks i know can't use both card but that the best i can help u on that right now unless they have fix that problem on a recent driver. I stop using that 4870x2 card now so i'm not in touch with ATI latest driver. Hope this help u guyz out a bit.

    Resolution 1900x1200
Mutisampling: doesn't matter can put 16xq can still 60fps
    General Drawing:8
    Background Drawing: 5
    Shadow: Highest
Ambient Occulsion: can be on or off same fps but i have it off cuz i don't like the game to be darker than it is
    Depth of Field: On
    Hardware mouse: on
    Texture quality: high
    Texture filtering: highest

I have one GTX580 as well and my FPS are usually at 60 with short drops to 55.
    My settings are:

    Fullscreen
    1920x1200
    4xMSAA
    General Drawing Quality 8
    Background Drawing Quality 5
    Shadow Detail Highest
    Texture Quality High
    Texture Filtering Highest
    No AO or DoF

Sync to VBlank and Triple Buffer forced for ffxivgame.exe in the Nvidia Control Center.

With common HD resolutions like 1920x1080 there is little to no visible difference, i've made screenshots with both General Drawing Quality 8 (former setting "Buffer: Resolution") and General Drawing Quality 10 (former setting "Buffer: Double") and nobody could tell the difference. Apart from the Downsampling Anti-Aliasing Effect setting it to 10 is pointless at the moment, the GDQ 9+10 settings will play a bigger role for future resolutions, lets say in 5 years we have screens with 3840x2400 and if you play the game at such a high resolution all textures and objects are upscaled and will look very stretched, setting the General Drawing Quality to 10 would improve the picture quality then and the game graphics will still look super sharp. The best example for this effect is FFXI which was made for a 720x576 PAL/NTSC resolution and still looks good on HD resolutions with forced Downsampling (for XI it was set through the registry).
