Lore vs. Money -- Will NIN require lvl 50 and 2.2 completed to unlock?

This has been discussed before, but I am wondering what peoples' thoughts are concerning the NIN job. Many believe that rogue will be released as a normal class that people take to 30, have the subclass (unknown atm) at 15, and then will be able to become a Ninja at level 30. However, this kinda goes against the lore as people who have completed 2.2 know.

I know that gating the NIN job would potentially lead to SE losing the money of those people who may join the game just to play that job and don't want to play a job they dislike just to open it. I doubt anyone who has finished 2.2 would quit over the NIN job going against lore.

Does anyone think that SE would actually only allow NIN to be unlocked via the 2.2 story quest? If this question is answered Saturday in the Live Letter it would be so lovely!

**On a side note I'm kinda sad NIN in 14 won't be like my NIN in 11 -- AF3 +2 Iga boots // 9 shadows = OP as all get out!**

They've already said that there won't be anything special to unlocking ROG, I believe.
The only real question is the slight paradox it would create if you're NIN and you meet Yugiri after the patch.

I think the story will change based on that. Like how people address you if you were there for the fall of dalamud vs came after the fall.

This. Perhaps they will do it better this time though.

It depends on how they build the Lore for ROG/NIN. It is entirely possible that he NIN occurring in Eorzea (playable) will be a 'near-eastern' guild, the original guildmaster(s) having learned these techniques from afar. Possibly even integrating the lore of certain new-arrival NPC's @ 2.2 so that if you are a new player, and read all the soryline/lore, that you know more about the appearance of his NPC, possibly making i even MORE exciting for new players. For people post-2.2 as the guildmasters talk about these ancient technicques . . . well I've always found i to be a bit of a conundrum when I'm a LV. 50 WAR and the level 5 DRG quest is teaching me about "Courage."

I don't see them gating the class behind content. In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if you'd be able to start as rogue upon making a new character. I think the NIN job is going to add some draw to the game.

This has been debated EXHAUSTIVELY in other threads, with no real conclusion. Some insist that there's no way ROG or NIN can exist before a certain point in the storyline and players MUST progress through 2.2 before unlocking them, others feel that there are workarounds that will fit within story lore possibly with minor changes to dialog depending on whether or not you've unlocked them by that point, still others are certain that SE will give a big middle finger to lore and just implement them willy-nilly and ignore any storyline discrepencies because $$$.

And, that pretty much sums it up.

They should make the class rogue available from the start, but unlocking the job ninja requires going through the story.

This makes sense as to lore, but I think it would be incredibly harsh to new players who didn't know that 2.2 requirement.

Scenario: New player choose Rogue as class. Gets to lvl 30 and finds out about other people's job quests. Finds out it will require essentially getting an entirely separate job to 50 and doing many quests in the story on said job. Frustration. Especially if said player is more interested in playing Ninja than any other job.

It seems fine to most of the current players because most of us have gotten past 2.2 and have one other lvl 50...but it doesn't make much sense to allow any new player to choose Rogue but then gate Ninja behind essentially an incredibly high requirement wall.

There are classes in WoW and other MMOs that you don't have access to until you reach a certain part in the story. It's highly plausible SE will take the same route (being able to play ROG/NIN before the events of 2.2 would utterly destroy the lore of the game anyway).
