Divebombs hit everyone if they are in the damage path, not just the person with the green target.
If a divebomb targets someone in one of the 2 pits it creats the smallest damage paths (only a out the size of 3 character models.)
Anyone in the party can get the green target which determines the damage path
Basically minimizing the potential for getting hit at all.

You do not stand outside near the pit with the target because that will make twintania cut throught the center of the field and the put the damage path throught the pit
When you see someone running outside the pit in videos it is usually tanks and/or blms. They do this because they 1) have abilites that allow them to ignor push back, 2) are positioning to pick up the other 2 snakes and hit everything in the center of the field with the lb.
