Sp variance doesn't correlate with difficulty

As most people are aware, two mobs of the same rank and different species will more than likely have differing SP rewards.

Could we see the criteria for these variances? Because while some of them are pretty obvious (efts require a skilled group with BRs to kill with any efficiency) others are a bit of a mystery.

    Here you go: http://www.bluegartr.com/threads/104...-SP-quot-Chart

The variance in base SP is perhaps too high and doesn't always make sense. Raptors of all levels have a base SP of 150, which makes them attractive grind targets, however, Kobolds, which I find to be a stronger monster family, only have a base of 100.

Even the highest level mice only have a base of 63, so they give very little SP despite putting up a decent enough fight.

I think the beastmen at the encampments have an adjusted base SP of 150 now, too.

SP rewarded needs to be revised... Should make it based entirely on HP proportions and then general difficulty.

Or just needs to be less complicated overall... Strange bonuses in place at various tiers from rank 1 to rank 24, and then different mobs giving different SP with no clear reasoning behind the decisions...

I miss the EM=100 formula from FFXI...

Though there seems to be a very vocal section of the FFXIV community that is against anything and everything that was a staple in FFXI being implemented in FFXIV.

The FFXI solution isn't perfect either. Not all monster types are created equal, so players are incentivized to seek out the most pathetic mobs around.

Oh I certainly understand it wouldn't fit in the game in it's current form... But then I think that is more of a balancing issue with mob strength than anything else.

My rank 20 PGL can solo rank 34 dodos, even though the sp returns cap at rank 30 mobs, at this point they should almost scale the ranks down so that rank 25 mobs become rank 20 mobs, but they keep their current sp values and difficulties.

Of course I have no idea how higher level mobs behave so maybe it balances out the higher you get.

You can solo dodos 14 ranks above you? Teach me oh master. I am sick of grinding out mods 6 ranks higher than me for a lousy 150 sp.

I can't tell how much sarcasm is intended... but I'll take it at face value. I use sacrifice 2, stygian spikes (when I remember it.) and the skills seen in my action bar in this picture: 34 dodo solo

Light strike, jarring strike, concussive blow, victimize, raging strike, feather foot, second wind, siphon mp, stygian spikes and sac2.

The important thing about fighting dodos is to avoid rancid belch. you do this by strafing to the left as soon as you see the animation. (For some reason trying to strafe right almost never allows you to actually avoid it.)

Keep featherfoot up whenever you can. after you evade hit with jarring strike, if featherfoot has more than 20 seconds left on recast use light strike. Concussive blow whenever you have 1500 tp, second wind whenever you drop below 800 hp, Sac 2 if Second wind isn't up.

The first mob in the chat log was a 33 dodo, the second is that dead 34 dodo. Each fight takes maybe a minute and a half.

Not exactly efficient, but it's not really a close fight either.
