    Needs more traits.

When the game first launched the premise for the armory system was that the more we did, the more options we had. Great, I love it.

In practice though, even though we can equip alot of different abilities from different classes, most of the abilities are so mundane there's no reason to.

What we need are more traits.

Traits that are earned by ranking up classes, not from just purchasing them from the guild.

Traits that do things like increase melee or magical defense, evasion, parry, block rate, accuracy, potency... everything!

If I want to play a pseudo red mage gladiator I should be able to toss on some debuff skills, a trait to improve my magical accuracy and potency, and voila!

Give us more traits. It gives us more to look forward to than another mundane ability every 2 levels. And it gives us more tools for customization and unique character development.

well just to let you know they are talking about adding advanced jobs in the future. For example GLA will turn into a Paladin after first job release. But with advanced jobs conj+thm= rdm. Thats just a heads up.

I agree thought, I was just talking about this with my boyfriend. How there should be traits either through classes, or now through jobs when they come out that aren't buying with guildmarks. I'd even take some you'd have to do a quest to do. Or a quest to unlock a few abilities.

What I have gathered from jobs is that everything you get from specific jobs will only be active when the job is active.

Of course that's just speculation based on the very scant information posted thus far.

I disagree with Galka75. Traits on classes, at least to an extent, should be able to be cross-classed. Traits on jobs, those should be exclusive to the job. Classes are supposed to be a mix-and-match, play-how-you-want system. Jobs will be for specialization. Let's stick to that model for now.

But yes, it would be nice to have class traits. It's kinda silly to have all those points to apply traits and have very few worth using.

Im waiting for my HP%+ passive trait.
But If you have a R50 and all other classes to 20+ means you prob have a bunch of traits. And only 24 points to fill, you cant equip all of them. Until they raise cap that is.

Wouldn't it be great to have tons of traits to choose from? I'm thinking a whole set of HP/MP regen+ traits, HP/MP max+ traits, elemental affinity/status effect affinity/healing affinity (you only pick one), and many more. Customization is something lost from other MMOs, but it still exists to a degree here!

It's why I've taken such a liking to this game.

I definitely agree with the view of the OP and several others in the thread that the addition of more job traits could really help to flesh out job customization. The obvious way to implement such traits would be to have each class provide the basic stat boosts for the things it normally excels at.

However, I think that there's a good way to really expand upon this. Combining traits should offer additional bonus, and those bonuses might even be affected by your current class.

Here's my example. Say you throw on a couple of attack boost and magic potency traits. If you're a gladiator, this combination could provide an added strength bonus to your elemental weapon skills. If you're a lancer, marauder, or archer you might be provided with an additional boost to damaging spells you cast. Conjurer and Thaumaturge might be gifted with a strong bonus to any of their tp based skills.

Now of course, my example was just off the top of my head, so I'm sure there could be a better way to implement the specifics. Still, I think that the idea of bonuses from trait combinations would be a nice way to reward creative customization from players.
