You know, there are games that have OW PVP where you need to, I don't know, do something to flag yourself as participating in it?It's often accurate to say "X is/may not be for you" though. What would you tell someone that wants to drive a car, but absolutely hates the idea of it having more than 2 wheels and lacking a need for pedaling like a bicycle?
The PvP thing would be interesting, but the imbalance of open world would be crazy in this game right now LOL. Small zones, teleport standstills, limited resource activities (e.g. leves), etc.
Just throwing that out there.
PS - There's more to PvP than LOL CAPTURE THE FLAG and CAP THE POINT LEL

One game that does Open World flagging terribadly is Aika. Where, if you're not from the nation of another player, and that other player is flagged for PVP, they can attack you regardless of your flag. (Also citizens and non-citizens can do the same.) This happens even on one of their "PVE" Servers.
I'm perfectly fine with carebear:

One cannot argue that PVP is an "after thought" anymore. Not after the several patches that have tried shoving PVP in people's faces. In other words, it is now as much as part of the game as PVE, imo.
As with open world PVP... I don't know, I believe the GCD does not make this game a good candidate to support open world PVP. I think arenas and battlegrounds--organized pvp--better suits this game with the current GCD at hand.
PS3 limitations
Sorry if this was already mentioned but it would be nice to have a exclusive area/arena in the open world where if "2 men enter, one man leaves". Or just an area in the open world for PvP, where people can go to settle there differences. All the anger or annoyances that happen often, settle it on the battlefield. Rival Free company battles... Why in the open world? So anyone can spectate and say, "hey those were the guys going at it on the forums, must watch now!"

Firefall has that, and the flagging /unflagging system for it is annoyingly stupid.Sorry if this was already mentioned but it would be nice to have a exclusive area/arena in the open world where if "2 men enter, one man leaves". Or just an area in the open world for PvP, where people can go to settle there differences. All the anger or annoyances that happen often, settle it on the battlefield. Rival Free company battles... Yoshi P said we might get an official RP server but we never got one, so I don't see why they'd make a hardcore/PvP server.

Gee! There is always a thread like this one from PvP players playing PvE MMOs demanding said PvE MMOs to become PvP. Do I go to Eve Forums and demand to the Eve devs to turn Eve into a PvE MMO? I don't! I also don't play the game as well... or any similar PvP MMOs.
English is NOT my mother language, French is. Use my recruitment code MV9YGNXD before paying your sub and get cool items. http://sqex.to/Cz9

It does not necessarily need to be PvP, but I think competition would be great.
Time trials, races, high scores etc (like for example a room where mobs spawn and the players can increase spawn rate / level to get higher scores)
Don't get me wrong, I like ARR for various reasons (else I wouldn't play), but I'm not a blind fanboy who does not have some criticism to share: For a "pure" PvE game there is a surprisingly lack of PvE content. Did you ever ask yourself why you farm endgame equipment? New dungeons/raids were a joke up to now (except for coil). New players are handed i90 gear while old players are closer to i100-110, why even bother to create an i80 dungeon? Some kind of challenge, only for those who want it, wouldn't hurt.
They actually said they were going to add leaderboards for speed runs and the like. Not sure if they decided to scrap it but they called it time attack at one point. Should be released soon if they didn't scrap it. They said it was going to be released after the frontlines leaderboards which is already out.
