Leaving an FC and your room stuff

Do you have to remove all of your personal room furnishings before you leave an FC to join another one? Or does it go into an escrow type holding where you can get out later? I seem to remember reading that it was held for you somewhere but can't find any info on that now :\

You can get the furniture from the 'Resident Caretaker' NPC if you've left an FC, but didn't clear your private room first. That NPC can be found in any of the wards.

I believe they only hold the items for a certain amount of time, dunno how log that is though.
