Option for Allowing the Sale of Single or Stack on the MB Suggestion

    Hello all...,
I have a suggestion that if I, the seller want to sell a stack of something, there would be an option to allow buyers to buy their desired quantities from that stack.
    Example:
I want to sell 99x of Cobalt Ore, but I don't mind people taking 20x or even 1x from that stack, so I check a box that says: "Allow Custom Sales" or whatever, so the buyer can buy any quantity from 99-1. if I only want this stack to sell at once, then simply uncheck the box.

I feel it's fair for both sides seller, and buyer.
    any thoughts?

Not really fair. Why there is no quantity discount?

For example, if everyone can buy 1 crystal shard for the same cost as buying a 2000pc stack,
first, the tax system will be broken when each transaction is less than n gil,
sencond, both selling history on MB and retainers would be filled up by single item multiple sales,
    then, it is predictable that everyone will undercut everyone bcoz evey single 1 quantity will have to list as the cheapest. ^^;

valid point you have there, which raises the need for a reform of taxation system. I believe the tax taken from sellers from each sale is fair(for using the game system to sell instead of shouting every time you wanna sell something), but taxing from buyers is not. I think there should be a percentage taken from buyers that goes to the SELLERS as "delivery fee" only if you are buying something from a different town. like buying from amazon or something you wont buy piece by piece because delivery fee will be charged with each check out.

I don't want 99 in-game messages each time I sell one thing from a stack. This just sounds like people who have spent all their money and have not realised the balance of classes you need to have a continuous source of gil, otherwise why would you make this suggestion?

MB is a task in itself also, something that should take 1-2 minutes between duties, this would complicate matters for both the buyer and seller while also most likely increasing MB manipulation.

If you only want so much of a stack, my retaliative suggestion would be: learn how the market board works and sell what you don't need back on the board at the same rate if not higher to recoup what you lost.

No - it's working fine as it is. You don't go to grocery store trying to buy 1 bun from pack of dozen or one hot dog from pack of 10, do you? The different size of stack reflects discounts which would be totally destroyed by allowing partial sales plus I don't want my sale slots cluttered by partially unsold stacks. Either buy the amount available or find / gather it yourself. I do agree that some sellers are not using much of brain by selling everything at stacks of 99 - or mytho mats at singles instead of stacks of 9 - but that's them not doing proper research prior puting items for sale, not broken MB system. Anyway - this was discussed ad absurdum gazillion times here in many ongoing threads and it's not going to change so just learn how to use the market to your advantage as both buyer and seller.

I'm one of those players that doesn't buy into the bulk discount BS.

If I want one item, forcing me to buy a stack of 99 and then relist a stack of 98 is losing for everyone involved (and I'm probably undercutting the original seller to do that).

Partial stack buying, I feel, benefits both customer and seller. This isn't the real world where packaging complexities come into play, and I most certainly can go to a stand and buy a single hotdog if I'd like one. Or go to the deli part of the supermarket and get exactly the quantity I would like.

But more to the point. This isn't real life, we aren't limited by the compromises that packaging requires.

I think it should be redone retainer side. Allowing people to sell more than20 slots per retainer. I really really hate buying 99 of something. for example: i stopped stockpiling animal skins. Let's say i didn't have a FC. Now i have all DoL/DoH to 50. But still levelling a couple DoW/M classes. So i need like 3 to make a bit of gear. Why do i need 99? Plus like someone said above, I'll be losing money relisting the 96. This is a primitive example, but same goes for higher level items. I even made a retainer named "nostacksofninetynine" to get the point across on my server. I also make a higher profit selling smaller amounts. Wish others would do the same.

I bought some hotdog buns the other night and got home only to find out that someone talked the store into selling "just one bun" to some guy... yes I was upset.

back to reality. Last I checked, everything that is for sale in stacks is accessible to Every player that puts in the time to obtain said item so how about having the dev's focus on more important areas within the game and stop complaining about adding in features because you're to "fill in the blank" to get them yourself?

Hot dog buns aside, I think the best bet you'll have for specific quantity purchases will be if they implement personal bazaars.
