[dev1123] gray abilities when out of range or battle conditions not met, e.g. Phalanx

Someone has brought this up before, but I can't see it in the top page, and it bears repeating with the introduction of a relevant dev tag.

It would just be nice if abilities would appear grayed out when out of range or a battle context, like evade, parry, or block, is not met. This already occurs if a player has insufficient HP, MP, or TP to use an ability. This would help classes position themselves at the optimal range in party play and facilitate the use of abilities like Feint, Phalanx, Fracture, and Haymaker by providing information in an intuitive way.

yes please, I hate trying to cast a spell and being told I am too far and have to try 3-4 times over until I get close enough. Would be much better if the icons were grayed out if you are too far from the target.

I roughly know the range I need to be but it changes if there is even a slight height change on the floor it seems.

Nice of him to save you the trouble then!

I'd like to see this taken a bit further with abilities that require triggers out of the player's control (Evading, parrying etc). Make it so that ability flashes and could be noticeable from the corner of your eye.

That aside, a little love for the macro icons would be nice. If we could I would love to set an ability icon as the macro icon. This way the cooldown/grey out effect can be shown on the macro bar!(i.e. if I have a macro that uses Ferocity, waits, and then activates Puncture, I'd like to set Puncture's icon/timer in the macro bar!). Other games with macros do something similar to this; i.e. "#show [SkillName]" on the top line.

Plus as a bonus, there would be no need to add other ability icons just for macros if this is done.

Yes, please. I love Haymaker and Feint as opportunistic abilities, but in practice it is hard to know when they are available in the heat of battle. Having them grayed out when not available and/or lit up when available would be a nice addition.

That will be really helpfull feature, it's hard to notice evade for pug and parry for mrd in tight battle, they need those to use ability.
