It might be better if non-claimed AoE kills offered rewards (sp, xp, drops). Classes like Marauders and Conjurers thrive at AoE combat, but rarely have the opportunity to take full advantage of it.

The basic idea though is the same. The claiming system shouldn't be changed, at least not for the regular mobs. It should only be modified to allow a party to fight several groups, rather than only one (which is the problem that happens at Behest).
As for Large Scale Events, if they are instanced, monsters could be allowed to be fought by anyone who is part of the instance.
I agree, we should be able to reap all the rewards/SP/EXP from killing mobs, should have them turn red no matter how many you hit so that you don't lose out on SP or anything of that nature.
