Hug emote? more like an awkward pat on the back.

I was looking forward to the new interactive emotes, but I was disappointed with the way they turned out. Not only does the "hug" look like an awkward pat on the back, but the "slap" doesn't have an effect on the other character. This is just my opinion! Although other people may like the way it has turned out, I personally think there could have been more done. For example, a hug request could be sent to another player and if accepted, both players would be positioned so that the interaction could take place. This, i believe, would be more efficient than having to spam the hug emote in order to sync the hug with another player. I may seem picky but i really hope future emotes are better!
Can you imagine a "High Five" emote: Everyone would be jumping in the air and high five-ing each others face's!

Yeah, it's a little robotic. I bet it's intentionally awkward so male characters aren't "spuging" (spam-hugging!) the scantily clad female characters with a hug that's too affectionate.

A hug request would probably lead to an annoying pop up box that some players would use to grief and disrupt others.

I was kind of hoping we would move towards the target to hug them. Really wanted to run after my lala friends with open arms as they vainly attempted to escape my embrace. :/

Good point, although like many other things (e.g. party invites) there is a timer where you can choose to ignore the request.

I'm annoyed how the height system registers it... For the new emotes they're meant to vary based on the height of target, but it seems to have been linked to the camera position now? So unless I have my camera in the exact right position the hug doesn't really work, but if I have it in the right position it works fine.

Don't really care about how robotic it looks, for screenshots it is perfectly fine.
