    When Determining Housing Prices...

SE, you need to reevaluate your means of averaging (haha get it) player Gil.

Your result needs to account for outliers & be weighted differently, for one.

The rich are just buying up multiple houses on multiple servers in multiple wards using alts & RMT.

SE needs to learn the difference between what mean and median are. They need to be using the median gil per player, not the mean.

If you don't have 5mil+ and have been playing for over 4 months, you have not tried, at all, to make gil or prepare for personal housing. Gil is so easy to make in this game, at least in the small quantities required to get everything outside of a med/large house yourself.

Have you ever considered the people with <500k are the outliers?

Judging by the outcry on these forums and on the JP forums, I'd say no, they are not the outliers. Also, wait, what's up with the 500k amount? I haven't seen anybody float a number that low around until you.

There was another thread where a guy only had 300k. I expect most players to have somewhere around 2-6mil - and if you were really hyped about personal housing, you should have worked to get more. Furniture costs for the fancy stuff will end up being more than the plot of a small house anyway.

Exactly the issue here. They are expecting to spent 300k to buy a house (not a room). When they saw the reality, they cry.

Funny thing is even if players median was 4-5mil it wouldnt matter because only 960 of you could have a house anyways :P. Most exciting about median and mean is that both are including RMT accounts, so SE is deciding on how to charge you based on people who's living is to generate gil in the economy lol, it begs to use their money to buy a house.

We should be careful to say how they exactly laid out their formulas on pricing though, since they haven't said exact formulas. I would hope median over average and I would hope they dont just use median as that number alone as it is still dangerous but better imo. Hopefully what they did (which would surprise me if they did since the numbers.. lol) is they look at medians, player activity, popular player generators, and then decide the work they want particular groups* of players to perform (and then ensure that their work and demands are met - none of this limited stuff). All of this is why instanced housing while losing a bit of that neighbor feeling, is still superior.

    * (plays a lot, plays a little, plays economy a lot, just does dungeon stuff)

One person cried about 300k, and you're assuming everyone is. Wow.

Reality: Everyone is upset that it is 4m. That is too high. 1-2m? Not too high, I'd say. But 4m? Too high considering this is content. It should not be easier to get the best furniture in the game than it is to get a house to put them into.

If FC rooms are 300K, it only makes sense that house should be 10x or more. The 3.3 mil for a small lot is already too low as it is. Why is it that people think that they should get prices set to median and have house handed to 50% of the player population? Why isn't the the blue bird minion or ton berry minion handed out to everyone too? These are vanity things meant for players to make distinction among themselves. The content is definitely accessible to all and it is equal opportunity for everyone to go and try to get these things, but it doesn't mean everyone, or 50% of the playerbase should have them the day they are released.

You can get all sorts of furniture in real life far easier than you can get a house you own out right. I don't know how people have these backwards expectations.

People with less than 500K gil are far more common, and definitely not the outlier. Lots of new players are in that slice of the pie. Given this economy is basically unregulated capitalism, the distribution of wealth will be very lopsided. A real life economy with regulation is already really bad for fairness or equality see:
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QPKKQnijnsM

And in a unregulated one in game like this, it is going to be far worse and far more lopsided. People need a better understanding of math and statistics. So they can have realistic expectations.

If people don't like ridiculous wealth distribution like this, then they should share the wealth. Help your FC, share with your FC, get a big house together as a FC, and do what a MMO is supposed to do. Build a community, join with like minded people, and let those whiney crafters cry about how they can't sell stuff worth a darn, when they have been making off like bandits.

I bought my house for 1.5M. There are STILL houses for sale on adamantoise for 1.5M. And we're in the middle server category price wise.
