I'm not saying I'm particularly happy about how it turned out but that's how I see the situation, prices are too low and there aren't enough plots to go around. Hopefully doubling the wards in 2.4 helps a little but the demand will probably be higher still.

And seeing as there are people bummed out that they couldn't buy their house because they weren't awake when the servers went live the gil doesn't seem like a real issue.

NO. It means there were not enough houses. Personal houses should be available for the grand majority. Please see other MMOs for examples;

EQ2, Wild Star, Rift, FFXI, LOTRO, and probably loads more.

Depends on how you look at it. It would be a bit like if Sony said, "We'll only make 100 Playstation 5s for our first run, let it sell out, and then raise the prices because of enormous demand!"

Now if you want housing to stay in the hands of a small elite (but always ensure a plot was available for said elite), then yes, the prices were set a bit too low.

People are even buying medium houses as private homes . i see it in my ward. But this is what makes me mad .My problem with the housing . There in the same zones as FC housing . A FC has to acquire rank 8 to buy any size home . S , M , L any size rank 8. BUT if you want a personal house all you need is gil. No rank nothing speical . Just money. And you get all the perks of a FC small or large . This is what pisses me off the most

You mean the 30 house slots (including medium and bigs) each ward has x 2 added wards x 3 housing areas = 180 total spaces being enough supply for a whole server?

I can also go to Somalia and sell 10 bottles of water for $50 and say the pricing was right.

The money isn't the problem because money can be obtained over time and is not a limited resource. The problem is that the amount of housing plots made available was incredibly limited.

Due to the fact that only 6 new wards were created on each server people got panicky and instantly bought housing plots the moment the servers came up (some even buying plots that they realized they didn't like moments afterwards). As a result a lot of smaller FCs who were raising money, or are new to the game have been forced in to waiting for either new wards to be made again (only for the small plots to be bought the moment the servers are up yet again) or raise even more money for M or L plots.

Yoshida has stated that come 2.4 the dev team will have a system in place which will give players access to as many housing wards as they need, though at this point I'm not entirely sure I believe him anymore. It's only a month or two away until we get 2.4 so we will soon see.

I don't think you are considering the amount of houses bought vs the amount of players who still don't own a house. Only 38 players per housing area were able to buy a small house, that is 114 players per server, it doesn't mean the other hundred/thousand of players left out are able to afford them. This is why even if they double the amount of land in 2.4 they will not have enough land for everbody, unless they find a better way to manage their resources and add maybe add 4x or 5x the current amount.

OR they should stop treating all servers equally and accept that different servers will have different needs, a dead server definitely wont need 3x+ the current amount, but a legacy server does.

More. Some people have really many gils. Some not. For those, the only way to have a house is the FC house with friends. (and then, some part of "personnal" with the room)... just... Some players with enough gils buy all plot before any FC can buy...

So... it is another BIG matter with this personnal housing...

WHY a such personnal housing when other game do it fine?
