I'm currently a lv 48 WAR and I am enjoying it sofar. I have a lv 50 WHM, SMN, BRD and DRG and Truth be told, tanking isn't too difficult, assuming you're properly geared. It's even easier for boss fights.

The 1st few dungeons can certainly be discouraging for a new tank. Despite being in full lv15 vendor gear I was still losing aggro to high lv players in sastasha who were simply doing their jobs. I'd exhaust all my enmity generating abilties, but still couldn't get or maintain agrro. Luckily the groups were understanding.

To some that may be an indicator that Tanking is not for them, nor is it worth such frustration.

I feel like on my world ragnarok there are so many paladins besides myself, it's hard not to notice them everywhere. A few days ago I joined an impromptu party when an elite hunt monster appeared, and everyone in the party was a paladin. If there is still a perception that there are not enough tanks, it may just be that they do not queue solo for instanced content as much as other roles.

Tanks are the ones that get blamed when shit hits the fan.
Tanks are the ones that have to stress out in order to pick adds of incompetent DPS that can't manage to not DPS on a CC'd target or count to 3 and yet they still get flamed.

Bottom line: Tanking for randoms SUCKS in pretty much any MMO I know of.
However tanking for friends can be a lot of fun.

I see mostly "tanking is easy" responses. I suppose that is why tanking is not seen much in Duty Finder?

It certainly is easier than I pictured it. Healing is much more difficult in my experience. Overall, I think one of the reasons tanks are few in mmorpgs is due to being in the "leader" role. Like you said, you set the pace and go where you wanna go. As such Tanks (and maybe healers) are easy targets to blame

They are easy targets, because a fail is MUCH more visible and often wipes the party.
if a DPS derps, he gets an instant rez and everybody forgets about it 30s later.

Personally I love to heal. So exciting when stuff goes wrong, so relaxing if everybody knows what they are doing. You never know what's in the box!

    Healers dont forget about it!
If a dps gets hit by everything and (finally) dies, I don't want to waste mana healing him cause he's just gonna die again and again (not eveyrone but a few dps are that bad)
I'm rather patient, and if he tells me he's new then fine I'll raise him if he dies once or twice. But if he's in my PF group for Titan EX kill and dies in the beginning everytime then I'll rage (of course I don't say anything to him, I can't be mean to anyone that way, but my roomie is gonna hear about it!)

I simply stop healing him until he dies (encounter permitting).
Yes I am that cruel, because if 7 years of WoW taught me anything it's that DPS only learn when it hurts.

Same as a tank: you search for aggro on a non marked target?
Congrats: you found and get to keep it.

If they fail repeatedly despite me advising them: votekick.

As for DPS not having to worry about aggro - that depends on the DPS. Some DPS like to pull hate by spamming things that some tanks can't keep up with. If your tank is not as highly geared as you are, you should always be careful as a DPS not to pull hate.
    That's only logical.

A skilled DPS does maximum DPS w/o pulling aggro.
I loved that gameplay back in the days of WoW.
Hanging around @ 110% tank aggro, constant warnings yet the mob never looked into my direction. Tanks loved me.

Tanking is mechanically easy. I just don't do randoms/pugs anymore due to either voke off measuring contests or other tanks ignoring the concept of "I'll MT". Add in a bunch of DPS that want super splodey numbers before I even grab the mob/douche behaviors, and I just decide it's not worth my time.

Before anyone says "Grow a thick skin", I have one. I just don't like dealing with idiots (do that at work already, so not in the mood to deal with em after hours).
