I definitely agree with the "dropping alongside each other" notion, especially since I want some of the gear for glamour reasons. It makes me lean towards not running a dungeon that has the gear I want when it only comes from one chest and there are 8 (or more) different options including mats. The best option would be 2 drops from the chest: 1 gear and 1 mat. The mats that drop are already getting stupid easy to obtain between GC seals and Ixali oaknots anyway.
