Again the only reason I ask this is because as users of FFXIV we subscribe.
Also if correct, "Borderlands 2" may be a cross platform game but it doesn't support cross platform grouping.
It's a completely different genre of game.

You just provided further evidence against your original claim. But yes, either way, it's up to you on whether you want to go through with it or not, no one is making you :<
Please elaborate on how I provided evidence against myself?
I find what you say to be rather admissible due to lack of explanation but rather point a bold finger at text, doesn't make any sense without explanation.
All I stated is that the reference used by Squa wasn't a valid source considering it's entirely different genre's of games.(I.e one requires a subscription player base and the other is a flat purchase with expanding DLC purchase)
[Edit] To add further explanation on my part, the game used as a reference works like this: Database changes per platform, compared to FFXIV's Database were it is shared across platforms.
Yes we are not technically forced to purchase another platform currently to play the game but eventually as we are PS3 users the length of which PS3 support will be provided is unknown and it would be best to create a migration route.
As I don't believe we will be purchasing new gen consoles(PS4), we will be building our own rigs.
Should PS3 to PC players be forced to buy new keys where PS3 to PS4 isn't?
And since you will throw it back in my face with your next rebuttal, not all players know that support shall be discontinued down the road, some of them(us, my fiancee and I for example) which have purchased a new PS3 copy to play the even expanding MMO without a second thought due to SE advertising it is supported.
Again, love the game and we aren't planning on leaving anytime soon.

Well actually you don't get both PS3 and PS4 keys it a give or take option, you keep the PS3 license and buy a PS4 license or you give up your license to PS3 and get the PS4 version for free, so the PS3 >> PS4 is no different then PS3 >> PC.
Then out of sheer curiosity should they offer later in the future the option when they drop support of PS3 to migrate accounts to either PS4 or PC, or only PS4?
But thank you for diving into detail upon that matter, I was un-aware they would over write the prior accounts platform database.
