They will need to add a lot more wards to satisfy the wants of the populous. Especially if the prices are to be cut by half.
Separating FC from it is something that probably should happen.

I'd rather they work on quadrupling the number of wards for 2.4.
Drop the cost of plots overall by a significant amount; for individuals and FCs.
Add a 35 day tax that needs to be payed to keep the plot.
Base the tax on the size of the plot and the number of people owning it (individuals pay less than FCs).
The idea behind paying for plots was for it to be a Gil sink. It isn't. You pay it, then you have a house and there is no real significant Gil sink left in the game; you just keep making Gil. Adding a tax means you can drop the initial cost, pleasing most people, but eventually they'll be paying more through the tax. Since it's a lower amount though, it's more manageable. It stops FCs from hoarding a plot if people leave, currently a 12 man FC could have bought a plot, but as long as 1 person remains they can keep that plot - if they had to pay a tax that reflected a FC then they'd stand to lose it.
I mean really... Consider how much Gil this game throws at you through; FATEs, Levequests, regular quests, Dailies, Duty Roulette, Dungeon mobs, Hunt Marks, and Gods knows what else I'm forgetting. The only Gil sinks in the game are all completely avoidable too; Teleport fees? Walk everywhere or use Allied Seals. Market Board fees? Trade directly. Repair fees? Go level a craft you lazy bum. Housing Tax would be avoidable too I guess, but people actually want Housing. The only working tax I can think of is the vanity tax that has you shelling out millions for mounts and minions (from beast tribes mainly), but that is a one time deal too.
Left as it is, the amount of Gil per server is just going to keep rising, and Housing isn't going to do anything about that except alienate people because the price has to be so high to make up for the fact that this game has no Gil sink.

...
That is ridiculous. Personal housing will never be an achievement and bragging right if they are that cheap. If SE do what you suggest it completely belittles the entire purpose of a personal house.
Why should a personal house be an "achievement"? In XI I got a mog house and all I had to do was subscribe and create a character. XIV players are too elitist. Everything has to be out of reach of the average paying subscriber. It's absurd.
Nope dont agree with OP maybe if his opinion wernt er so much as HIS opinion and maybe if they didnt sound so entitled then I would of sided
I want it for the utility and a place which I can call home. Please leave achievements and bragging rights out of personal housing.

Yeah they are just going to fix that up in a week, I know nothing about coding or server infrastructure but it's possible because I'm mad.
With the manpower/networth they have & investing their resources toward a single end-goal of this kind... very doable to get us 4 Wards in a week's time, I'm certain of it. Doesn't require a genius.
Also, who says I know nothing about it; don't slander me because you're prideful.

Yeah you know nothing about it, they cant do this in a week stop having a tantrum.
