Elusive jump prevent fall damage when used correctly, although a lot of dragoons are not aware of that.

yeah the jump prevent fall^^, need to keep a jump and when you fall you jump, you get back to your target (most dragoon used this on the landslide from titan, but yes it's not know by all the dragon)
in solo i think drg can certaily compete with most job, War can be annoying for drg to solo, it's hard to win a DRG vs War solo

i din't remember got killed by a bard in solo, why ? them can jump and reach directly and burst you in no time, he maybe have to jump again to achieve you when you escape, and have to trhow some lance. a drg with all the CD up = this scenario, it's maybe why the first attack maybe the key, to make it possible for bard, if them is not full CD also there more chance^^
