"Can the last person to leave please close the door behind them?"

I've recently experienced something kinda annoying: I queue for a dungeon, and then I get an offer for joining a run in progress. That sounds well and good, but when I zone in, I discover that I'm all alone. Is this a bug?
Either way; would it be too much to ask that the last person to leave an instance closes it, rather than leavingit open?
Also: If you all agree to leave, then don't say yes to finding replacements for the players that left.

Typically the randomly assigned party lead will initially click to refill the party if say a tank bails. Now you cannot reverse this decision so after 10 mins or whatever, the leader is suddenly the only one left in the instance. They leave which would normally terminate the instance...BUT...it pinged you to enter In Progress before the last person exited. In the 5-10s it takes for you to hit Commence and load in, that person has zoned out and your arrival has caused the instance to persist. There's not a whole lot SE can do here.

Actually, there is a way to stop the searching. I've done it a few times, but it's been a while so I can't remember exactly what you do. I believe you have to click where it says searching and the box pops back up and you can hit cancel.

It's also possible to close the instsance by using "vote abandon". If you are the last person left, and you're planing to leave, there's no reason not to do that. The "vote abandon" button is right next to the "leave" button, and if you're alone, it will pass automatically.

People don't usually wait until they're the very last one. When they see ~3 people leaving at once, everyone else is likely to get on their way to the leave duty button themselves - by the time the last person is actually the last one in the dungeon, they're probably just about to hit the button as well.

I remember getting this a few times back when I used to run WP. Maybe somehow was related to the chests that drop mats for relic precursor who knows. I showed up one time as in progress after waiting in queue and there were like two people there and I was like- 'Hi looks like we just need a healer than we can get started.' They didn't say anything back though, they just left and there I was at entrance waiting for nothing. Another player joined like less than half a minute later and I was like- 'hi I just got here looks like it's just us two.' Was going to ask her if she wanted to wait or leave, but she walked out without saying a word in reply.

So for those three people there's something I forgot to tell you... "F-ck you."

    That's all.

Joining in progress for a DPS has its risks. My main is PLD, second WHM, and when I started to level the BLM, as I was not used to long waits, I decided to click the join in progress to make the wait time shorter.

I got a party with no tank, and after some time also no healer. We finally voted abandon since the wait was too long and people from FC or linkshells were not available. A new long queue after all that lost time. Lost interest in clicking the join party in progress since then.

Roulettes don't have such long waits, but if you need some special dungeon for a DPS it's best to find a friend to go with you as a tank or healer. Or accept there will be a long wait, craft, do FATEs or something while you wait.

That's very true, a Join in Progress is very much a 'Buyer Beware' situation, esp as DPS. And if one or more slots are open because of a party where someone was wiping it, is it those who couldn't cut it who left, or those who stayed? You won't find out until you get there.

What I never ever do is pick Join in Progress with Trial Roulette. Odds are so much higher you'll get a team that can't complete it, if you do get a full team.
