It's 1 inventory space.... wait are you actually serious?

It's 1 inventory space.... wait are you actually serious?

It's one, after one, after one... It's worrying if you think in the long run, and it's crap if you're doing something else (like crafting) and need to constantly move things from one place to another to make some space.
I don't think that this is something minor, specially if they're doing it for no reason at all. Some others have already said their theories, and I might share them, but the ball is in SE's court. It's common sense to think that these things should be key items, as they're part of a quest, after all. Specially when "some" of them already are.
Or maybe that's just me, as I like to have things organized and be consistent when I code something.

Once you don't need an item anymore and can buy it again from a NPC if you would need it again, throw it away or sell it (like items for crafters)
Here you can check if an item get sold by a NPC:

Also sell everything you can buy in the MB for less than 100 gil
I hope this help you to get the one free inventory slot back without buying a retaine.
Also, upgrading the Novus is not part of the quest. The quest is complete the moment you get the soulglaze on the Novus and the Zodiac Glass.

Ya know, things like this as well as other items I really wonder sometimes why they don't fall under a key item. We have 3 inventory bag spaces for key items, yet I don't think I've ever had more than 2 rows of key items in 1 bag at most full (and that's only recently with the addition of the Ixali beastman quests).
I wish Atmas were listed as Key Items.
I wish Alexandrites were listed as Key Items.
I wish special currencies were listed as Key Items (like Ixali Topknots).
I wish Beastman quest items that drop from fates and are needed for turn-ins were listed as Key Items.
There really isn't a good reason they aren't placed as Key Items. They are important items that are "key" to specific objectives or otherwise special.

Wow now that you bring up the item drops from fates I am going to jump in here. I actually discarded all of those because they were taking up space.
And yes Atmas are pretty obnoxious when you only need 1 more thus taking 11 inventory spaces.
Also what with the ixal quests being crafting related you have to create items that all go into your inventory. That isn't just one space, it's 6 spaces if you are going for time efficiency (i.e. make all the stuff and then only go to the ixal area once to turn them all in at the same time). And actually on the 6th item if you have to make more than 1 it's really 7 inventory spaces because even the items necessary to craft the item is an inventory item!
I would really like to see crafting be available using items from inside retainers too as over 50% of my inventory is taken up by basic crafting materials. I do this mainly so I don't have to spend time finding materials every time I want to make something... but that's a whole separate discussion.

As the people that posted after you mentioned, it's not about 100g items or things like that, we know how to manage our inventories. It's about the fact that it's not consistent and it makes something that should be simple into something that the players have to be more careful about and take extra time to sort, when a simple flag would probably fix it.Once you don't need an item anymore and can buy it again from a NPC if you would need it again, throw it away or sell it (like items for crafters)

There's more than one of these kind of items that you can have on your inventory at once, and it's even more than that if you're working on several relic weapons at once, on different stages (for example). So, the whole point is that they keep doing it, and while it can be manageable now, it might be a pain in the ass later on. There doesn't seem a reason as of why they can't use the key items tab, when it's empty most of the time.
Also, it doesn't matter if the quest is over or not. The fact is that those are key items, as Ecks007 said, and not some consumables, gear, mats, or trash. As sush, they should be placed in the appropiate inventory section, and that is the key items inventory that already exists and that is used for some of those items (animus books?) but not for others.
