    Personal Housing for the 1%

I wasn't aware I had to be a resident of Elysium in order to afford a house. The 99% living in the slums of the polluted Earth don't even get a chance I guess.

Personal Housing was one of the things they hyped during the relaunch of FFXIV and instead we got this. People thought Neill Blomkamp's second film was a disappointment, this is somehow even worse. I don't know what Yoshi and the devs were thinking but if they actually thought this was acceptable they have another thought coming now. The Japanese players are rioting even worse than we are and that's saying a lot.

This needs to be completely rethought and addressed pretty quickly, right now patch 2.38 is the worst patch this game has seen so far. I've been a loyal subscriber for a year now and I know I'm not the only unhappy person.

We all had the same opportunities in this game.

It's actually far less than 1%

You chose to be in the 99% living in the slums.

Be happy you were successful in your choice.

They liked the reactions to housing the first time around so much they thought they'd do it again. Makes no sense to me but people get their jollies any way they can.

Wait until they release more in 2.4 and are even cheaper than the ones now.

Everyone starts out on the same levels. We all have the same opportunities to make money. There is no class barrier beyond your own choices in this game.

I'm ultimately not concerned about the price. I'll make enough eventually.
It's the severely limited space that makes me concerned.

And THIS is the real problem.

    Logic. <Do you need it?>

It is literally impossible for everyone to have enough money to afford housing. Even if they all made the same choices those who can afford it made. Because it isn't possible to generate money from the server in those quantities. The top 1% have such insane amounts of money because the other 99% gave them all their money.

Best source of money generated from the server (without limit) is.. what a dungeon? Prolly get 2-3k per run?

    50,000,000/2,500 = 20,000..

So sure do 20k dungeons and you can get a house on your own. Lets make it 19k to account for (daily bonuses and such - repairs).

    Good luck with that one.

either way /shrug if I wanted to play house there are games such as SIMS to do that. This is a MMO not "let me sit in my own private corner of the world by myself building a house" but suggesting the prices they placed on housing (personal or guild) is realistic is beyond insane.

A Veteran MMO gamer knows that the experience of the game is stretched out over years, and if crafted properly, it leaves players with some of the best gaming experiences to be found anywhere.

the game world is not the real world. this is actually backwards in the game. why would the 99% give the top 1% any money at all?

The top 1% will buy your materia and buy other items you acquire. if you choose to only make gil through NPC methods that's your choice but you don't ever have to spend money besides on NPC methods either (and maybe food). but nobody rips you for not using food for stuff like ST and Hunts.

    @Crystallus

Some of us have lives extending past a virtual one in game and cannot log in as soon as servers come back up because of family obligations, jobs and such. It might be easier for you if they don't need you at work because your not important/needed, it might be easier for you who might have no kids to look after or any other obligations but not everyone has that same chance to get one.

The fact is the supply and demand are so far apart in this game that it is a sad and pathetic joke. If only 0.1% of the entire player base gets the ability to own a personal house, there is something wrong with it especially when every single subscriber could get a mog house in FF11, have personal houses in a lot of other MMO's of which some have not even been out as long as this one, have as many subscribers or even requiring to pay a subscription fee yet Squeenix cannot meet the supply and demand in this one? That's a big failure on Squeenix's part and not the players fault, it is incompetence on Squeenix's end that is the problem here, bad design choices, withholding of investment, lacking understanding of supply and demand on this aspect of the game...in life if your business completes/satisfies only 0.1% of your customers orders pretty soon your find yourself out of business.

I got my house because i logged in at server up not because i am 1% richest on the server. Small houses were gone in like couple hours. Everyone had the same chance to log in and buy one. 5m isn't even that much because so many ways to make gil. 2.4 they are doubling houses so if you want one and they sold out you can wait till then.
