To each his own. We like the side games like gardening, decorating, chocobo raising stuff... we were locked out of that with FC housing and were waiting to come back with personal housing... that is the casual content we think is fun...not anymore.
That you think is convenient for you, not FUN.
If you really think gardening, chocobo raising, and decorating is fun, you can still do it in your fc House.
Nobody stops you from havig fun doing what you like, yet nobody stops you from being greedy an wanting all of this only for yourself, instead of sharing your idea of fun with other people.
I think the game you are looking for is called SIMS. Or maybe farmville.
Newer players to MMO games will likely draw from their experiences playing FPS games, GTA, Dragon Age, Skyrim, etc.. and they will evaluate a MMO based on that criteria. But other online games (and offline RPGs) are designed to be picked up, played for maybe 5 months and then abandoned for when the next big game comes along. A Veteran MMO gamer knows that the experience of the game is stretched out over years, and if crafted properly, it leaves players with some of the best gaming experiences to be found anywhere. This is the problem most content is solo and you get your group action from a cross-server queueing tool. This is not like older MMOs where servers developed real communities. It's more like MacDonald's Drive-Thru, where you queue up, do your run, then never meet those people again.
all you need is 3 people to make an FC, or were you talking about the price and availability of plots locked you out?
Yes, it was just too much.. plus we are married couples - we wanted to have our houses in a neighborhood together. Yes, I get that it is a bit Sims-ish.. but you can do this without an issue in EQ 2.
We are all 30 somethings, married and just like to have fun online together a couple times a week, maybe. We aren't hardcore gamers anymore... and I know that for some people, playing the market and selling is no big deal... but we just like to have fun while we are on... not grind or farm (unless it's actually farming =-) ! )
We aren't looking for high end gear to be handed to us.. we just want to have fun gardening, cooking, making stuff for our houses and nesting! We adventure, too... prefer questing. That's why we liked EQ 2's system... it let you use status in place of coin... so we could quest and get status, then use that to get nicer places.
