The dyes already show up in game on specific gear btw.
Example being
Pure White is the colour of the Bard Soldiery body standard, and metallic grey/gold is Noct plate and Daystar robe.
Presuming Jet black is also Evenstar :/

I'm not getting excited for the new dyes untill they tell us how to get em, I have been let down too many times already. >_<

Yep, pretty much my stance as well.
SE has been too good at building hype for something, then screwing the moogle when they implement it.
I do miss GW2's method for dyes.... get it once, use it forever.
AF recolor , Swimsuit , new Primal weapons , allied seals gear (weapons are expensive as hell)
i dont have any hopes about the new dyes , i would love to use the silver 1 looks cool but u will get 1 once in a blue moon or pay 1M for it.

Don't forget about chocobo training, biggest let down ever. That was such an underhanded clip they showed in the preview.

Yeah, since it's something that has people excited (esp. for the white and black) I'm sure it will be a hot mess of drama, or extreme RNG needed to obtain something as simple as a dye.

SE actually said these are only from retainer ventures? When i first saw that it seemed fine. Probably need an i90 retainer for it if the trend keeps up. But after thinking about it this is exactly why people had a fit that you can pay real money for extra retainers. Putting rare high demand items in retainer ventures and only retainer ventures gives an unfair advantage to people who pay more real life money. This is what people didn't want to see happen.

After some of the stuff they've pulled, this doesnt surprise me one bit tbh.
Yes, it's been confirmed that it comes from Retainer Ventures.
The only benefit some people might get is that they have additional retainers, simply a higher chance of yielding it.
Nothing game-breaking, it's just dye. You could argue "BUT THEY CAN MAKE GIL!", as if gil really has any gameplay impact on the game outside crafting/gathering it's mostly cosmetic.
The game has done it's best to avoid gil as being a necessity, meaning if you didn't want to ever buy materia/weapons/gear/potions/food, you're still perfectly capable of doing almost everything the game has to offer without it.
But I agree, it really should've come as a low % gathering node for 3-star gatherers to THEN be made by 3-star crafters.
