Really don't like how this game panders to the richy rich crafting people when it comes to vanity items. Why not just give them the ability to craft useful high item level items comparable to the end game (at that time) gear?
Instead we have a fairly SMALL pool of good looking vanity items and many are trapped behind the wall of effery called "crafting folks using the MB" which leads directly to simple stuff like Coeurl Beach gear that ... I NEVER see anyone wear because no one on my sever makes them and the ONE I have seen on the MB is being listed as 8mill ... with zero history so literally only one person bothered to make it and thought putting it up for 8mil was a good idea -_-
Hell, I don't even think it looks all that great but if I can make one some day I WILL glam it just cause I have never seen another character in that ...
Same fore the new Mogblades, I have never seen one go up on the MB on my server though I have seen a few people pay 2mill ish for the mats for it (checked other servers with my alts and it seems like my server is just strange :/ ).
Would hate for NEW dyes to become like most any other vanity item on my server that are restricted to star ranked crafts. Hope it's not trade-able and it's gotten through the use of hunt seals.
Also, as for GW2 .. i left that game a loong time ago but one thing I DID like about it was how it handled dyes. Sure, you could spend an arm and a leg to buy the blackest black or whitest white ... but you could use that color FOREVER on w/e gear and never have to rebuy it for that character again(I hear you now have a shared color libary with ALL your characters and the same goes for skins ... good shit GW2! still not gonna play you again though ..). AND you could dye more than one part of your gear (none of this forced appeal bs ARR has where they limit you to just coloring one part of the gear ... IF you can color it).

You could always, you know, take up crafting yourself Marcella.

Oh, I am. Got ever craft up to at least 16 now. But it's gonna be a long road before I can do wut I want with crafting ... :/
Decided to take up crafting after I started doing DF solo for the first time ... as a PLD ... with barely there ilevel gear. Tank that's new to the game and is out leveled in gear by random players in a DNG? Yuuup, that's an easy headache. After I saw wut the problem was I tried to find good gear on the MB and NOOOPE. Crafters on my server seem to have banded together to exploit the low level players and not bother making anything of worth like the mogblades. Lucky for me I made friends with a cool one who geared me for free and helped me level my crafting. :]
But yeah ... the ONLY reason I bother with craftering is because I want the new Mogblade and MogAxe (and maybe even MogBook for my future SCH) since they're not made on my server at all it seems. Sucks that I can't farm Mog-Weapons on DF ... Already got the reg mogblade so I can't need those and every other person I see who runs the HM is someone from another sever who is only there to farm so there's lil luck in rolling on something else :/. Gotta DS this on first ... so now I gotta learn about that stuff to.
Unless you're willing to spend millions on materia or countless hours spiritbonding it's worthless to level a craft imo. I have over a million in my weaver gear a still can't even make vanya cloth because my craftmanship is still too low, let alone HQ it to turn in for mastercraft books. So unless you're really commited to crafting, I wouldn't even waste the time.

I'm fully melding 2 DoL Classes with only Materia I get while spiritbonding and/or guil I earn by selling Materia i don't need anymore.
I'm spiritbonding 1-2 hours a day, even less depending the time I have when i get off work.
and I'm spiritbonding the "slow" way, since I use lower level mobs to spiritbond lv50 gear, while you can spiritbond it with lv50mobs in less time.
while spiritbonding, you can farm items. like Fleece, Skins, etc. that you can sell and make more profit.
Spiritbonding it's absolutely not a waste of time.
Did you see my badge? I'm a professional!
To reach i90 crafting without spending money, you need to waste ridiculous quantities of time grinding, gathering materials, gathering ridiculous numbers of shards, grinding for GC seals to buy the exclusive materials you need to craft the i70 materials you need to HQ to buy the i90 books, generating and melding materia to be able to make those things, and then grinding even more seals and tomes to buy the exclusive crafting materials to make any of the i90 items.
Endgame crafting is so far beyond tedious it stopped being funny a long time ago. The development team clearly expect you to have either all day every day to spare grinding, or several dozen ridiculously wealthy friends.

Really? If you invested a million into melding your weaver and you can't make a vanya cloth due to craftmanship, then you are obviously doing something really wrong. I say this as someone who's at 4/8 supras with only about 1 mil spent on melding and only about 10ish hours put into getting crafting/gathering materia through spiritbonding. I don't see any way that you could have spent a million gil on Leviathan on crafting materia and not be able to make something as simple as a vanya cloth.Unless you're willing to spend millions on materia or countless hours spiritbonding it's worthless to level a craft imo. Well then, head on over to the mogstation or w/e it is and check out my weaver gear. Then check the craftsmanship required to craft vanya cloth. Probably should have did that before calling me out.Really?
