Spending SOL for gear, now or later?

It seems that ST will be dropping 2x Sand of Time at 100% rate from Xande and 1x Oils at a 100% rate from Xande and Amon. This has me wondering that in patch 2.4 the ilvl 110 gear will become the new Myth gear, and that we will be getting new SOL gear.

Currently, I have only 2 pieces of SOL gear. With this news, I was wondering if it would be best to just save up my SOL for when 2.4 drops. Or should I just keep buying SOL gear and upgrading it as I am doing now? What I am trying to avoid is getting my last piece of SOL gear, having 0 SOL when 2.4 lands, and then not being able to buy new gear.

    Any ideas?

2.4 is still quite a ways off so I don't see any reason not to buy SOL gear. Besides, if SE sticks to their current trend we'll very likely see a new currency for the next set of vendor gear anyway so that's another reason not to horde your SOL.

With this character's death, the thread of prophecy remains intact.

Right, I figure that the Weathered/non-weathered gear will become the new "Myth" gear come patch 2.4. As I am seeing it right now, it will take me roughly 6-7 weeks to get all my SOL gear, and if 2.4 drops in 3 months, then that means I have 2-3 weeks to spend in my SOL gear and... 2-3 weeks to save for SOL? ummm, I think I would be close to capping SOL by then, so I guess this really doesn't matter.

    Thanks for the reply!

It's more likely that there will be a new tomestone. So saving or not saving soldiery doesn't matter too much in that case.

They will just retire myth (They've already moved the old myth gear buyable with another currency in advance.), and keep the soldiery prices the same and remove the weekly limit on soldiery. You'll still be able to get soldiery.

This is on the assumption they don't change things up and actually add a new tomestone.

This. In a game that obsoletes gear as quickly as this there's no point saving - you will be perpetually saving for the next best thing around the corner. I'd just spend the sol as based on previous patches they'll remove the limit and add a new currency.

They will keep myth for longer, right now the main purpose of myth is not gear, it's zodiac books and alexandrites.
