Main Scenario Roulette gave me brilliant, as did hard and expert roulettes, and syrcus tower, trials gave me gentle, as did garuda extreme. Guildhest roulette gave nothing.

Just conjecture but I think the newborn star message only happens when you first gain light, likely when the zodiac glass shows a clearer image you'll get another message like light of a young star, light of a dwarf star etc.

Not true. My first Light came from trial roulettes, and gave feeble and gentle. I then did ST and got newborn star, 2nd run of ST gave brilliant light. T4 gave gentle, Expert roulette gave blinding. Then I got bored and logged, but the biggest thing to note is that my "lense" is not revealing any activity yet.

It was merely conjecture as I said, but thanks for proving it wrong, mine hasn't shown activity yet either, I imagine like all other relic tasks this will take at least 1-2 weeks grinding.

My last two ST i did not get newborn star so I don't know.. However, i've been spamming Hullbreaker Isle, and getting brilliant lights every time. Made a SR and did a few for 2hrs this morning. Looked at my picture and the weps seem to be getting some light??

Judging by the image you've provided it does seem like the pics are getting lighter and that you're gonna need to spam lots of high level duties to complete the nexus.

That's 6 Brilliant Lights I've obtained, but nothing has appeared aetherical wise so far. I'm going to take a lunch break, then work on the rest of the level 50 dungeons to see what they all give. I'm saving HM primals for last.
