So why didn't Yoshida just go the FFXI route with housing...

Anyway, TBH I am not too up in arms about the latest patch because I have a steady flow of gil, and already a personal FC house. However I am surprised they once again went with the "player housing lot" idea with personal housing. I kinda get it with FC housing, being able to see other "powerful" FCs in your neighborhood. However with personal housing... why not just make a zone line in each city, which would teleport you to your house? This removes the problem of people not being able to buy a house due to a ward being sold out, and also eliminates the original need for these high prices in the first place (people monopolizing lots). We already do this with FC personal housing too!

Heck, if you wanted the ability for people to enter your house, FFXI added that years later, allowing people in your party to come inside with you.

The only thing lost is the neighborhood and having a lawn (which could still be part of the instance), but does this outweigh the cons of the current system?

I think he wanted to do something new, amazing and fantastic, but had a massive oversight with how much space wards, houses, and content actually take in the FC housing stage.
Then, he continued along the same route even though it is an impossibility with current server structure for everyone to have a house.
Then, he/the devs halfassed 2.38's housing patch.

(I'm with you with moghouses tbh. It's a compromise, but I'm all for it if it allows me to garden.)

False! As much as I like to debate about this, i'll throw a cookie here this time and agree that personal housing should of done something similar to Mog Houses and just expand upon it. Can open/close visitation rights. Right now, personal housing is just a FC house without the FC. Its nothing different and feels borderline pointless to me.

Yea don't waste your breath, some people do not understand that what they think was did "right" in one game is only their own personal opinion. coming from a long time of FFXI if they did built anything off the wrong decisions 11 made this game would have already been dead.

Yep - Giving everyone their own personal space from the get go that they can modify and gain storage space with then expanding it through the housing feature would have killed the game.

It definitely would kill the game to build off what XI did right. Since you know, it totally killed ARR to build off of WoW and GW2's systems.

FFXI did a lot of things right and I think could make it's way to FFXIV in it's own form. It is just that a lot of people ask for things that were bad aspects of the game.

Personal housing as it is right now is definitely one of the laziest things I had ever seen the developers do. It took this many months to open two extra wards and slightly change the coding that it takes just a single player to buy the house? It is just classic SE being SE as usual to me.

Expensive? Fine. People can save for the gil.

Limited? Fine. People can wait until the cited server modifications take place at 2.4.

But the fact that it is not a new Personal Housing system, but that FC Housing has just been opened to individuals is bad.
