The numbers have been extracted from the game code by somebody. In the background of the game it's keeping track of the numbers each time you get a light message, we just can't see it.

Correct. Something that would get them into trouble if SE could pinpoint who it was.

I noticed this shortly after I got home from work and completed the Soulglazing quest, but the spiritbond percentage is missing from the Novus tooltip now.

Yeah I noticed that too when I figured out that this whole thing is basically SBing your weapon...

People said you need 2000 light points and that there are steps of 200 points each. However I advanced 2 steps and I don't feel like I've farmed 400 points, at all. Most of my fights were Gentle or Bright and I havent farmed more than 50 primals, like no way my eyes would bleed (max was Garuda, and that was like 15 times).

Is the bonus limited to trials?

No, the bonus is dependent on time of day, and can be applied to (almost) anywhere that you gain light, with a few exceptions, such as fates
