If its set on a 24 hr timer (daily reset) then this is what to do.
1: do ST first thing, should get a newborn.
2: Do Ex dungeons should get blinding for awile.
3: It will drop to brilliant then to bright the more you collect.
4: eyes bleeding, take a rest til next reset, hopefuly daily.
Ive run every dungeon today, they all where giving blinding even sastasha. But after awile it started giving brilliant. So i tried some other dungeons and they all where giving brilliant, even did another ST.
So from what i can gather the more you do the less you get. Doesnt matter what dungeons you do after your first dungeon of the day.
First thing I did yesterday after unlocking the soulglaze was a ST: I got Blinding, so your theory seems unfortunately wrong.
I'll try today again, hoping you're right.
Okay, was worried a short time ^^ I´d bet there is some random factor to it, as usual..
Never a mind was changed on an internet board, no matter how good your arguments are...
Yeah it's just that everyone else gets something different that stands out and looks really cool and thyrus just gets more of the same. I don't doubt it will take an examination to even notice it's nexus and not zenith
Also I got a theory of what I'm thinking the patch notes hint means, quoting for reference:
A weapon’s soul attunement level will rise by a set amount determined by the activity being performed. This amount, however, may increase each time a certain period of time passes. Thus sharing information with other players will be invaluable in planning the most efficient method of attunement.
This to me sounds like a rested exp bonus kinda thing. It might explain why some people are getting newborn star and some aren't . I don't know how it is exactly but it could be that if you don't do any DR stuff or just haven't logged in for a while that you will have a boost when you finally do start for a while.
Though that wouldn't explain why we would need to share with others to plan efficiency unless it's tied with the specific instance and not our characters. Idk just my theory

I am thinking your Ilvl to the dungeon Ilvl is the key.
I ran st, t6 and some expert roulette yesterday and never got the newborn star. I have seen some folks say they got it in different dungeons. some who have not. The only thing I can think of is Ilvl.
So I am gonna test this out when I get home and run some content and try to get my guy to the dungeon ilvl or as close as I can. Maybe some other folks can test it while I am at work.

To help you with this test, I got bright light as ilvl 106 in turn 4 five times in a row. Many are getting less than bright light with a lower ilvl so maybe your theory craft is a bit off.
In all reality, knowing SE and how they do things the most likely answer to how light is distributed is RNG with different rolls (chances) for different content.

Read through alot of these theorys and i've not done ST in weeks tried for first time in awhile after update yesterday, at about 2 pm gmt, and got blinding i've done it 5-6 times since all blinding, my ilvl is 109, so i personally think its RNG, completly random, i think by talk with other adventures about it, it just meant talk and work out what activities will yield light and in what degree.
I've also done content on my own and with 1 or 2 others with novus weapon equiped we all got exact same result several times.
ST gives the best result, but i'm not sure if doing things that give lower light but are quicker is better or what, for now i'm gona do as many of my roulettes daily as i have time for, and rest of time, mix fates, maps and ST
I also think there is a little RNG into it; that wouldn't be a surprise.
I can see the rng in getting a newborn star, but if you run st 5 times and get blinding light I dont see that as rng. That is assuming newborn star is the highest amount you can get.
Has anyone seen progress on their relic looking thru the zodiak glass?
I'm not sure I believe this is the case. If you are suggesting it works anything like the experience based rested bonus we already have in game, there is no way this is correct. For the last month and a half, the only instance activity I have done is coil 6-8 and 9 progression (no win yet). I have had no reason to do primals, dungeons and I don't care for ST drops, so I haven't run any of those until yesterday. The first thing I did was pre-make a Bray HM, and I got a bright light at the end of the dungeon. People on this forum had been reporting getting a "brilliant" light from there. My first ST gave me a blinding light, and I ran 2 back-to-back Tam-Tara HM and got blinding light from both of those as well. No roulette was used, I chose the things I did outright.
That being said, I won't waste my time in ST anymore if I can get blinding from Tam-Tara consistently. The ST run took 45mins because of a Scylla wipe and the T-T took a bit over 15.
The theory about it being a certain time of day could be correct, but that's just way to random for me to feel comfortable about going off of. I work, I'm sure a lot of other people work too. So I can effectively never get a bonus because I have to work at the time of day this magic increase is effecting Eorzea? Maybe multiple times of day there is an increase, but if you have already collected one then you forfeit any more for the day?
Has anyone done enough ST, to see a newborn star light comment, then later on see it decrease to a blinding light comment, then even later see it increase back to the newborn comment in the same Earth (not Eorzea) day?
I can't imagine anyone wanting to run ST that much in one sitting, so I'm not expecting an answer but it may be a good thing to test if your masochistic enough![]()
