I'll be straying a bit off-topic here, but I wish we had the <st> line of placeholders from FFXI. They're really, really handy for their main purpose, but I also used them for this kind of thing all the time.
/ac "something"
/echo <st>
/ac "something else"
The macro wouldn't progress past the first action until I selected a target to echo on that second line, and (IIRC) if I canceled instead of selecting a target, it would stop there and not process the following lines.
Although that may be why we don't have them. SE's stance on macros makes it clear they don't want them to be all that efficient, or to adjust to your exact GCD, and allowing that sort of behavior with <st> would allow just that.
