I read this as the majority of you can't imagine the amount of gil the small minority has.

This is completely what is going on, because the top 1% of players have massive amounts of gil, prices are jacked to ridiculous levels, completely screwing over the vast majority of players. This is essentially makes housing a top X percent proposition. In actuality it should be easy to obtain so the vast majority can enjoy the new content.

In other words, the way he's doing it is the complete opposite of how it should be done.

there are times when the decisions made by the development team are not always in perfect alignment with the thoughts of the players.
    Understatement of the year.

Yoshi~san and Team - have a sit down with your PR department, go over the finer details of making sure your words are faithfully translated accurately, that everything goes before your eyes to proof read (or proof read by the individual that makes the commentary) and then do it over and over again just to make sure it is what you want said and then have it posted. Also, even though you have advised your stand on matters was misrepresented, you still need to take some responsibility for how this all lead up to today's poop storm.

Now, along with the communication factor - the Devs do not have to communicate with us at all, this is true. So I suppose, with how seemingly open Yoshi~san and Team have been in the past, we have been spoiled rotten. But this is what endears the community to the Developers and this relationship should be protected and cherished on all sides - especially by the Developers. Otherwise, you run a serious risk of losing people's faith and trust, which leads to cancelled subscriptions. Communication is always key. We understand that you cannot reveal all information - that is fine. However, the information you do choose to share you better make damn well sure it is accurate, that it is within the spirit you wish to convey to your subscribers and if something goes awry, be ready to own up to it. I love you Yoshi~san, I love your team and I love your passion for this game. Please don't kill our passion for FFXIV in the process.

This really cant be their design choice. It makes them look lazy and incompetent. We are sharing the same zones as Free company's. They are taking away the main focal point of creating a Free Company by doing this. Why would they have single players compete for plots that Free Companys should have first dibs too?
I can only guess Yoshi&Team want to get rid of some more gil, that's overflowing in the game.. which is silly cause, people will amass fortunes in an mmo, there are players that only live to do that. So can we expect stuff like this every quarter of the year, that will have players dump huge amounts of gil into an in-game activity or new function. Seems paranoid to think like this and silly to waste time trying to implement ways to purge gil from the game.

They should have, and should, just make a separate instance for Personal house. Along side Free Company Instance.

-Yoshi&Team also need to give us all the items we have in those Inns and have them accessible in our personal housing.

Adding more plots every mini patch or main patch, to eventually accommodate all 6k+ player-base, along with FreeCompany club members, does not make sense to me. When Yoshi& Team, themselves, are complaining, and stating, they are having issues with server load and trying to test things before adding new plots. Making it the excuse as to why they are per-longing personal housing accessibility/purchase.

    ---------

Have a zone that is within the Free company plots that leads to a single player only instance, would have made more sense.
Here the player sees everything like they would with a House in the Housing zones. except it's secluded from other pc's.
Here the player is still able to:
    Garden
    Decorate the lawn
    Raise/train/feed chocobo
Go into house and sleep, place npcs,
Have access to Barber shop, mini game music box, Item chest, Book of cut scenes, retainers
    Able to decorate room.
Is also able to give privileges to friends and soon to be spouses. For all the above. (If FF11 can have access options FF14 should be able to also.)

    ....
either do the above (that's in bold) or create a separate zone for the single player experience. This is what everyone is angry about. You promised a single player experience with housing and you did come through.

This is the logical flaw I see in their statement, in a way they are saying they don't want players to obtain this content on day one, even though they have introduced a variety of ways to make gil easily.

So instead of these means of obtaining gil being used as a way to make it easier to obtain land once it's been released instead it's caused the difficulty curve to be based on the amount of effort players have put into making gil.

So pretty much by working harder in wait for the content to be released all the players have done is caused the goal to be pushed further away because what players thought as the main goal was nothing more than a starting point.

The issue currently is teh devs basing prices on the current economy is illogical because they fail to realize that the reason why players have so much gil is because they were saving up for housing.

If they had released housing before people started saving gil it could of been only 800k but the longer they waited the more they felt they should increase the pricing of housing o_O?

I hope a dev can take a look at this and realize the illogical nature of what they are doing basing the cost of housing on the economy because when you set the price at 800k as a guess people would be ok if it turned out to be 1mil-1.5 mil however when it ends up being 5mil+ it's a bit ridiculous because now you are telling the players they don't need to do 2 times the effort but rather 5+ times the effort to get housing which they thought they would at least be close to the requirements to obtaining.

Simple math dictates they would have removed far more Gil with instanced personal housing at a more reasonable price then this could ever remove.

I scrimped & saved, spent time spirit bonding, gathering & crafting, doing hunts, maps, journals, dungeons. All to have enough gil to buy my own little slice of heaven.I allowed myself to buy the personal room, using it as a sort of design pad for how I want to decorate my Personal House. I do have enough gil to buy a small house, but this morning, in disgust I held back..I like many others was led to believe that everyone with a moderate amount of effort would be able to obtain a property. Only to be stopped by what again, affordable housing shortages.

Sure, there are large & medium housing available..but really what percentage of the population can afford that alone? It is not the price I am disputing so much the availability at the low end of the spectrum. Having a few houses per ward affordable enough for the average player, is not enough... not when we were promised PH!

I was excited to be opening up my own instanced house, or an area of other small properties, to have a garden of my own...not sure why I listened to SE hype, they disappointed us with the original FC housing design and now with the PH, proving they learned nothing from the debacle except how to deflect blame and trivialize our anger and frustration.

I believed the hype and was again forced to modify my expectations...at this rate, my expectations are equal to the bottom of an old gym shoe..thanks for the underachievement SE.

This is a great point that I haven't seen brought up really. Their excuse to use the mysterious stockpile of gil the players has as a reason to make housing prices so stupid seems invalid if you take this into consideration.

As much as I'm upset about the prices. I'm more upset about the implementation of the housing... we can all eventually get to 4-5million gil... but if they don't substantially increase the amount of plots/wards, it won't matter if you have 100mil gil. If there's no room, you get no house, ever. :/

I think he already cracked. Between this and the clusterf*** that was hunt's inception I'm almost certain that he is now untrustworthy at best.

That said I think that we shouldn't be hyped up for every minor detail but instead scrutinize them at every turn. We must ask for proof like the Ninja video that shows the internet and mechanics of the features. And pay no heed to anything they hypes until there is proof that it is worth of it

You know the total number of plots available now? They're working to double that for 2.4, with the option to release many, many more because they know that what they currently have isn't enough. It was all they were able to release right now due to technical limitations.
