Relic Weapons: Lost in translation or my bad?

In the EN Patch notes, the last para:

One you have completed the quest “Mmmmmm, Soulglazed Relics,” you will be able to alter the materia-enhanced properties of your relic weapon novus or relic weapon nexus. Prepare a new sphere scroll of the correct type to receive the power of your chosen relic weapon, then use materia and alexandrite to redo the infusion process.
    * The materia-enhanced properties of a relic weapon nexus will be transferred to a sphere scroll after being adjusted to item level 110 values.
I was particularly confused with the red font footnote, so I referred back to the JP patch notes:

    ※「古の武器・ネクサス」から複写する場合は、アイテムレベル110相当の値に調整されたパラメータで複写されます。
Pardon me as I am not a native speaker of Japanese language, but it appears that the footnote in Japanese version doesn't mention any Sphere Scroll at all VS the EN version. It appears to mean that "The Relic Weapon Nexus will be adjusted to IL110 while you are redo-ing the parameters of the weapon"

Not that I am going to re-do my Novus anyways, but... kinda curious about this. I know there are a couple of forums goers here that can read Japanese, so is it indeed lost in translation?

I think it means something like "you'll have your Nexus reverted to i110 levels and be able to re-do the attunement process".

Yeah that's what I understood from the JP notes, basically your Nexus will go down to i110 levels if you are re-doing the stats.

Which.. sounds different from what the EN notes say.

I took it as once we make Nexus, we can grind out another sphere scroll to alter the stats on said nexus, which was something mentioned at Novus release "In the future you will be able to reapply a new sphere scroll to your weapon to change the secondary stats"

The way I read it, when the upgrade to Nexus is completed all your secondary stats will be bumped to i115 levels. If however, you wish to change them, you can procure a new Sphere Scroll and pull the stats off the Nexus weapon to redo. When you do this, the stats will be returned to the level they were at when you melded them into the Novus weapon.

So if you were to do this, you'll also need to get the extra Alexandrite and Materia needed to finish the number of melds up to i115 levels. Also, given that we can currently edit and remove melds from the Scroll before it's added, I'd assume when the melds are pulled off the Nexus we'll be able to do the same thing. For people that do that, they will need to get the extra Alexandrite/Materia for those stats they are changing as well as the Alexandrite/Materia needed to add the stats up to i115.

I am looking specifically at the foot notes. The last para itself is correct as per the Japanese version which also says the same thing - once you completed the soulglaze quest you may purchase the appropriate Sphere Scroll to re-do either a Novus or Nexus. But the details of the footnote is confusing.

Anyways your assumption is based on the EN notes which mentioned that the stats of the Nexus is transferred to the Sphere Scroll and adjusted to IL110 levels, which the JP notes doesn't say so. I guess this is the confusing part - which I usually take the JP as correct.

Nontheless your post have given me another question mark to this which is neither explained by both versions of the notes. Once you redo the Sphere Scroll for a Nexus, does it automatically adjust to IL115 levels or you have to redo the soulglaze thing as well? :O

I guess only time will tell.

You can remove the stats one by one. As far as redoing the soulglaze thing, I highly doubt it. What I think will happen is that we'll just have to meld up to the stat level of the i115 weapons and that'll be it (should be 78 melds if going by the current HA stats, so an extra 3 over Novus).

Thanks for the info on materia removal.

Personally I believe that even for redoing the melds for Nexus, it will still be 75. I doubt SE is that hardworking to adjust the Sphere Scroll at all, LOL. Either it automatically adjusts to IL115 stats after merging it back with Nexus or redo soulglaze if SE wants to be an asshole.

That's my personal conjecture based on trends though. The upgrade method from Novus to Nexus have already been openly predicted by me (Spiritbond Novus to 100%) some time back in this forums cos' at times.. SE is just being predictable. XD

When you complete Nexus, all your Novus' secondary stats will be adjusted to i115 levels, this will be a true i115 weapon. If you decide to redo the stats on the nexus, the secondary stats will be 'pulled' off of the Nexus to reform the same Sphere Scroll that was originally used for the Novus (75/75). Now you can replace materia one at a time to get your desired stat spread. When the scroll is reapplied to the relic (still 75/75) the stats will again be adjusted to i115 levels.

Also players who allotted 31/31 Determination, should probably expect that the stat weights will be brought into line as the relic continues it's upgrade process.
At i110, a crit/det Relic may be 44/31(75 points) compared to a Soldiery being 31/31 (62 points, Book of Spades), but at i115 the same relic "might" still be 44/31.
We'll find out for certain soon enough. If this is the case, a crit/det relic will still be BiS for stat weights, but we'll see materia prices for Savage Might IV come back down to more reasonabe levels since Determination won't be 'breaking' relic stat weights permanently.
