    Housing and resources....

So I'm confused about what the devs mean when they say there are limited resources for housing. What resource is limited? I remember when Everquest, a game that started in 1999, introduced housing in 2010. They had more than a dozen neighborhoods available, as well as you could purchase an entire neighborhood for just your own guild.

So what is different 4 years later that a brand new game can only support so few areas for housing? As opposed to a 15 year old game that as far as I can tell has unlimited housing...

Had more than a dozen?I don't understand your comparison, honestly. More than a dozen neighborhoods? Doesn't FFXIV have more than a dozen wards for each home-state? On top of having 60 some servers, I would say the capacity is pretty large.

    Other differences include:
    *Graphics
*Computer/Server Technology (it's a 15 year old game, of course our current day technology can handle it)
*General Expectations of the players (the fact that you are making this comparison shows how much the players expect and the need for resource that can cover such high demands)

I'm not defending what happened today, but let's not make these crazy stretches of comparisons.

News at 14: 8 wards = more than a dozen wards.

Likely a consequence of some under the hood design decisions - they're more or less perpetual areas instead of singular instances. I imagine the server strain they create isn't exactly light.
