HA weapons are obsolete? lol. Good luck getting your Nexus before next Coil upgrade comes out.

I have both the HA and the Novus. My problem is that I have to use my Novus to get it attuned instead of my HA. But well... you can say "hodor, it's optional", but as far as I can see, the Relic NOW will be on par (and probably superior, due of the customized stats) than raiding gear on the latest patches following the major upgrade, so I don't feel that leaving it behind is good idea...
Oh I agree and if we knew that for certain that might change things but in given the last 3 Relic to Coil weapon scenarios that we have had the Coil weapon, base damage wise, was always stronger. I doubt that will be changing going forward. I do the Relic because I like the look of it. I think it will be parallel for a short time as a "Catch Up" thing but then out comes the next Coil upgrade and BAM, it is the better weapon. I think this is the reason they leap frog the weapon upgrades between Coil and Relic like they do. Like "Oh you cant commit to scheduled raid times but still have sporadic hours to throw at it during the day? Relic for you. Oh its winter now and you are looking for a raid group that wants geared people? Coil for you because you got Relic while you didn't have time to raid so now here is your shot at the best weapon."

I think to argue between Coil Weapons and Relic path is like comparing apples to oranges. They are simply two different paths to the same thing with time being the main variable.
To give it another analogy its like planning for retirement.
The Relic path is like busting your butt in the same tiresome job for 40 years and finally getting a pension at the end of the day. It's tiresome, sometimes aggravating, occasionally satisfying, but most importantly its guaranteed to pay off at the end. As long winded as the path may be, you know the goal is assure just so long as you don't quit.
The Coil path is like a high states poker player who intents to retire off his winnings. It's takes knowing the game extremely well, excessive interaction with others, sometimes not so positive interactions too. It takes a time investment as well, but far more risky as your reward is not guaranteed for your time commitment and you could spend days playing and gain nothing or even lose! But when you do win, you win big and relative fast compared to the wage slaves pushing for their pensions. But it takes luck, tenacity and at times, very thick skin.
So that's it. Slow and steady or High Risk and rocky, both will meet the same point more or less, one just a little faster than the other based mainly on luck.
to give my few cents on the discussion about relic vs coil weapon
not sure but I think it took me around a few months before I got my Novus. I always got the updated relic before the next step got released and I never grinded. Just did it casually. No pressure.
It took my group 2-3 weeks to clear t9 alone right after I joined them(they might have been doing it longer). We just got our 4th kill on Nael today and I still dont have my HA Weapon.
