Word things properly.
From what we were told, we were expecting Personal Housing to be fully released for 2.38. We were given an estimate gil amount for the housing which is substantially lower than what we've received. Something along the lines of "Two to three times the gil made from leveling one class from 1-50" which would roughly come out to 1 to 2 mil at the highest.
What we got, was an unlock for individual players to purchase a Free Company house without requiring it to be bound to a Free Company. It's a step, but it's not what we were expecting.
What we should have been told, from the very start, is something along the lines of this.Housing
A seventh and eighth ward will be added to each of the adventurer residential districts.
* A large amount of additional land is also scheduled for implementation in patch 2.4.
"We plan for players to be able to purchase houses in 2.38, however, the system will not be fully in place as we expect it to be until patch 2.4 where we will be adding many new housing wards for players to be able to purchase from."
That is instead of saying what was interpreted as. "We plan for player housing to be released in 2.38. We understand that Free Company housing wards are filling up, and plan to be expanding those in 2.4"
While this may be an honest translation error, it comes across as something that leaves myself and quite a few other players rather upset. Please choose more precise wording when doing translations, or when announcing content. If we'd have known that patch 2.38 would not have been the full intended release of Player Housing, many of us wouldn't have planned to be prepared for it only to be upset.
I'm sincerely looking forward to this being resolved in 2.4, mind you. The issue of Personal Housing prices and availability can be fixed (presumably in 2.4) with the addition of new wards designed with the sole intent of being for player-owned houses only. Whether they be new designs, or the current ward designs, the pricing can come down drastically in such wards that are not linked to Free Company housing.
While this may come off as a complaint thread, and admittedly part of it is, I can understand how errors in presentation can occur. I did gather quite a bit of gil and materials in anticipation for what I expected was the release of a fully developed system, and most likely have come off at quite a big loss due to that. I am willing to see if the situation improves itself, and will continue to enjoy the game as normal, though with rather high expectations for the patch to come.
